Hull City Vs Preston, Easter Monday, 3pm

As the Easter Monday fixtures dawn it's probably not unreasonable to ask where Preston's next point is coming from?

Once referred to as 'The Invincibles', Paul Heckingbottom's side have been anything but in recent weeks, performing as if 'on the beach' is more relevant than on the pitch.

In fairness, the Lilywhites played well for 45 minutes or so at Deepdale on Friday, leading QPR through a Liam Lindsay goal, only to fold under a late Hoops awakening, going down 2-1 in front of their own frequently-disappointed supporters.

That means they appear to have almost completely gone to sleep since their FA Cup glamour tie at home to Aston Villa on March 30. That 3-0 last-eight defeat appeared to be the point of departure for some, if not all, the first team squad.

Since then, they've collected a miserable two points from an available 15, failing to keep a clean sheet in all five of those games.

In that run, they have conceded nine at a time when bizarrely, goalie Freddie Woodman has been speculatively linked with Manchester United.

Preston are hovering benignly in 17th, miles off the adrenaline of the play-offs and just high enough with 49 points to be drawn into any serious relegation anxieties.

Below them in the table are Monday's hosts Hull City.

The Tigers are inconsistent, but nonetheless dangerous rival, who find themselves 20th and still needing at least one win to be absolutely certain of Championship football next season.

Hull fans must be a frustrated bunch, their heroes capable of occasionally the sublime, but more often simply the ridiculous.

In recent times they've put a gaping hole in Sheffield United's title bid when storming to a 3-0 away win at Bramall Lane, fought back from 3-1 down to bag a point at home to champions-elect Leeds.

They have also taken maximum points from the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Oxford United and Plymouth. In other words, when it clicks now and then, look out.

This one's unlikely to be pretty, but Hull have a clear motive to go out and perform, while Preston possibly waved the lilywhite flag some weeks ago.

The odds on football betting sites for a home win are 10/11.

Sheffield Wednesday Vs Middlesbrough, Easter Monday, 3pm

Leg two is also risky, but as detailed in Friday's winning column, Sheffield Wednesday are in a pickle.

They duly crumbled to a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City, and now come up against a far more dangerous opponent when Middlesbrough come calling.

These are exciting times for Boro fans, who'll travel in number to see their side potentially be catapulted above Coventry and into the play-off places if they secure three points.

For that to be possible Coventry would have to lose away to Plymouth, but with Argyle fighting like lions to secure points in their survival scrap, anything is feasible.

Boro had first hand evidence of this on Friday, requiring a dubious 94th minute penalty to see off their Devon visitors.

Had Tommy Conway failed to roll his penalty past Argyle's Conor Hazard the picture would be less clear, but for now at least Michael Carrick's men are on the charge and want a trip to Wembley to crown an inconsistent season.

At the expense of a stricken opponent I expect them to secure three vital points, an outcome available at 5/4 on betting apps
