Line Of Duty Betting Odds: Will There Be Series Seven Of Popular Police Drama?

Line of Duty has been cut on betting sites to return for a seventh series.
Fans of the nail-biting BBC police procedural show received a considerable boost recently after it was rumoured that the programme's leading stars, Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure are to start filming a six-part seventh season of the Jed Mercurio-created drama in January.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: "This is the news Line of Duty fans have been waiting for since the sixth season left them deflated when it aired in 2021.
"The BBC almost immediately requested more episodes to continue the story, but the show's success meant Vicky, Martin and Adrian were instantly snapped up for other projects.
"But, after several meetings with Jed and the production team, they’ve finally managed to clear space in their calendars next year to commit to making the show."
McClure Coy On Line Of Duty News
Following the recent news, Line of Duty is now 1/5 on betting apps to return for a seventh series.
If BBC bosses manage to pull everything together, the show could air as early as autumn next year.
However, Vicky McClure has remained coy on any concrete Line of Duty news.
Speaking on The Oliver Callan Show on RTÉ Radio 1, she recently said: "What can I say, I read the same news you all read! Nothing has changed. No news, I'm afraid; I don't know where that came from.
"The thing is, if I had something to tell you I would, but I don't! I don't want to tease people unnecessarily.

"It's great that they want it, but they're stories at the end of the day. We don't want to rule it out."
If a seventh series of Line of Duty does happen, then the holy trinity of Martin, Vicky and Adrian will no doubt return as DI Steve Arnott, DI Kate Fleming, and Superintendent Ted Hastings, respectively.
But which other stars could feature?
Who Are You?
Line of Duty tells the story of Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) police officers Arnott, Fleming and Hastings, who try to weed out bent coppers in the force.
Over the years, they have caught a few in the act, including characters portrayed by Keeley Hawes, Thandiwe Newton, Kelly MacDonald and Craig Parkinson - but which star will portray the next dodgy officer?
Former Doctor Who actor David Tennant has previously put his hat in the ring to play a Line of Duty villain.
In 2021, he told Radio Times magazine: "I'd quite like to be a baddie in a Line of Duty season. That's a big gig, isn't it? I'm available."
Tennant is 7/4 favourite to join the show's seventh series, and the likes of Wolf Hall stars Claire Foy (5/2) and Damian Lewis (3/1) could also be in contention.
Stephen Graham appeared as the guest lead star in the show's fifth season, and he has recently been back in the news for an incredible performance in the hard-hitting Netflix drama Adolescence.
While Graham won't be back after his character John Corbett had his throat cut, some of his Adolescence and A Thousand Blows co-stars might get the nod.
Erin Doherty is 2/1, and Ashley Walters isn't far behind at 10/3.
What's more, The White Lotus' Jason Isaacs and comedian Lee Mack both have Line of Duty form after taking part in a sketch about the police drama for Sport Relief in 2020.
Harry Potter star Isaacs could be in with a shot at 7/2, but Mack looks less likely at 10/1.

Nesbitt And Chong To Return?
Christina Chong is into just 1/2 to be back as DI Nicola Rogerson after recently letting slip that the Line of Duty cast had been asked about their availability.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said at the Hollywood Saturn Awards: "So I have been asked about a season, is it seven? Yeah. Potentially Nicola Rogerson will be back for season seven."
Others who might get the nod include James Nesbitt, who made a surprise cameo in series six as dodgy senior investigating officer Marcus Thurwell.
Some believe Mercurio cast him with the intention of using the actor for a bigger role in series seven.
Nesbitt is priced at Evens to return for a seventh series, and we will hopefully see more of the character if he does.
Moreover, Anna Maxwell Martin has portrayed the feared character DCS Patricia Carmichael in the last two Line of Duty series.
She is just 11/10 to return for a third go - something she appears to be up for.

Keeley Hawes (Lindsay Denton) | 16/1 | 5.9% |

Speaking recently on the brunchtime show This Morning, she said: "I love Pat.
"I'd do that again in a heartbeat, that part, I absolutely had a laugh. [The audience] didn't like her, but you know ... good!"
However, if the BBC chooses the flashback route, it could allow Keeley Hawes and Craig Parkinson to reprise their roles as late characters Lindsay Denton and Matthew "Dot" Cottan at 16/1 and 20/1, respectively.
