Morgan Rogers Next Club Odds: Will England Midfielder Stay At Aston Villa?

Morgan Rogers has proved to be one of Aston Villa’s best signings in recent years, but there are several clubs keeping an eye on his latest contract negotiations.

The 23-year-old midfielder only signed a new six-year deal last November after making his England debut during the international break.

Three major Premier League clubs were interested in signing the former Middlesbrough player and they will be monitoring the outcome of talks with Villa’s most valuable asset.

Chelsea are the favourites on football betting sites to sign Rogers from Villa, who sold Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle in the summer to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

It is thought last year’s deal, which runs until 2030, did not include a release clause, something Villa are keen to insert to ensure they get the best price for Rogers, who has made seven appearances for England.

Will Villa be able to hang on to one of the most exciting players in the Premier League or will they be unable to resist an offer for the £80million-rated player?

We take a look at the latest next Morgan Rogers club odds.

Blues May Not Miss Out Again

Chelsea were priced out of a move for Rogers during the transfer window following the departure of Ramsey to St James’ Park, but they will be interested to see how his discussions with Villa develop over the next few months.

The world champions brought the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho and Estevao to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

However, the Blues broke even by selling many players like Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and Nicolas Jackson, who eventually joined Bayern Munich on loan with an obligation to buy.

Chelsea also signed attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan from Brighton as cover for the injured Cole Palmer.

There is no obligation to buy the Argentinian when the loan deal expires, so Chelsea could be in the market for a replacement at the end of the season.

The west London side are 5/6 favourites on betting sites to snap up Rogers either in January or next summer.

Spurs May Be Back

Tottenham made a move for Rogers in August once it became apparent Eberechi Eze preferred to join their rivals Arsenal.

Miguel Delaney, chief football writer at the Independent, claimed intermediaries made contact with Villa to see if a deal could be struck, but Spurs were probably put off by the asking price – if there was one!

Tottenham could do with an energetic midfielder like Rogers if they are to finish in the top four and secure Champions League football again next season.

They will face tough competition from Chelsea, but the north Londoners are 6/4 to get their man.

Champions Could Enter Running

Liverpool were linked with a move for Rogers during the summer, but a deal depended on whether RB Leipzig met their valuation for Harvey Elliott.

Instead, the England U21 star ended up joining Aston Villa on loan with an obligation to buy for £35m if he reaches a certain number of appearances.

That has created a gap in the heart of the Reds midfield which could be filled by the arrival of Rogers.

The Premier League champions spent £446m in the summer – the most in a single window by a Premier League club – although they recouped £300m in sales.

It remains to be seen whether there is any cash left in the coffers of Liverpool, who are 3/1 third favourites on betting apps to bring Rogers to Anfield.

Arsenal Well Stocked With Midfielders

Arsenal have finished runners-up in the Premier League for the last three seasons and would never turn down the chance to bring in a quality player that could end their bridesmaid tag.

The Gunners infuriated north London rivals Tottenham by scuppering their hopes of signing Eze during the transfer window, so they perhaps do not need a player like Rogers in their squad.

Rogers is a versatile player, though, and can play out on the left as well as in central midfield.

Arsenal are well staffed on the left wing, where Eze, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are all competing for that spot.

Eze can also play in the centre, so Arsenal may have to sell one of their attacking midfielders before they make a bid for Rogers, who is 4/1 to move to the Emirates.

United An Option For Rogers

Manchester United would love a player of Rogers’ quality in their squad and are priced at 5/1 to bring him to Old Trafford

Despite a terrible 2024/25 season in which they finished 15th in the Premier League table, United announced record revenue of £666.5m in the last financial year.

That does not necessarily mean they have cash to burn as their overall loss was £33m – a 71% reduction on the previous year.

United boosted their attacking options by bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko in the summer, but having someone like Rogers playing behind the front three would be a major bonus.

City Return?

Rogers joined Manchester City from West Brom six years ago and although he never made an appearance for the club, he is available at 6/1 to return.

Newcastle have had a troubled summer which saw them sell star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool and miss out on another couple of targets.

Rogers would bring added quality to a strong midfield, but the Magpies are 7/1 to get his signature.
