Next Cambridge Manager Odds: Neil Harris New Favourite To Replace Garry Monk

Cambridge are looking for a new manager and the best betting sites have compiled a list of candidates to take charge of the League One strugglers.
The club parted ways with Garry Monk after a 1-0 defeat by Exeter 24 hours earlier.
Monk oversaw just one win in his last 13 matches at the helm, a dire run of form which saw Cambridge sink to the bottom of the table.
His replacement will inherit an incredibly difficult situation.
With just 15 games remaining, Cambridge are eight points adrift of safety and are 1/12 favourites for relegation to League Two.
Who will be next through the door at the Abbey Stadium? Let’s see what the betting apps think.
Harris Tops List For Cambridge Job
Neil Harris is the new 6/4 favourite to return to Cambridge following his decision to leave Millwall for the second time in December.
Harris left United about a year ago to return to The Den, where he has held legendary status since his playing days.
Many Cambridge fans criticised Harris for leaving them in the lurch, so it is unclear whether supporters would welcome him back.
Next Cambridge Manager Odds
Manager | Odds | Betting Site |
Neil Harris | 6/4 | |
Mark Bonner | 4/1 | |
Jon Brady | 5/1 | |
Barry Corr | 8/1 | |
Michael Morrison | 10/1 | |
Paul Warne | 12/1 | |
Leam Richardson | 20/1 | |
Ian Evatt | 20/1 | |
Ryan Lowe | 20/1 | |
Des Buckingham | 20/1 |
However, BetVictor has slashed his odds from 5/1 to 6/4 to fill the vacancy left by Monk's departure.
Football fans are a fickle bunch, and a strong start to his second spell would allow the former striker to win the U's faithful over again.
Harris should not be ruled out.
Bonner Still In The Picture
Mark Bonner remains 4/1 with football betting sites but is the second favourite to become Cambridge’s next manager.
Born in the city, he knows the club inside out. He served as first-team boss between 2020-23, leading Cambridge to promotion to the third tier.
Before that, he spent several years coaching in the club’s academy.
Bonner was sacked by Gillingham last month after spending just half a season in charge of the League Two side.
Nevertheless, the bookies have him down as the second most likely replacement for Monk.
Brady On The Shortlist
Jon Brady has been cut from 8/1 to 5/1 to be appointed Cambridge’s next manager.
The Australian made 53 league appearances for the club as a player before moving into coaching in 2009.
Brady spent six years calling the shots at non-league Brackley before joining Northampton.
He did a fantastic job with the Cobblers, winning promotion to League One in 2022/23 and securing a respectable 14th-place finish the following year.
He stepped down as Northampton manager in December and is now awaiting his next coaching opportunity.
Corr Another Dark Horse
At 8/1, Barry Corr is another dark horse for the vacancy at Cambridge as far as the odds are concerned.
But he is undoubtedly better positioned than many of the managers listed here, given that he was Monk’s assistant and has twice led the U’s on an interim basis.
Corr could be given the caretaker gig once more and may earn a permanent contract if he impresses.
Given how far adrift of safety they are, Cambridge might have to promote from within.
Morrison Enters The Ring
Cambridge skipper Michael Morrison is coming towards the end of his career, but would he consider filling the vacancy?
The 36-year-old defender has been an exceptional leader during his second spell with the club and he would have the fans onside should he get the gig.
Morrison is 10/1 in the next Cambridge manager odds, just ahead of former Derby manager Paul Warne (12/1).
Warne has enjoyed four promotions during an eight-year coaching career; three times with Rotherham and once with the Rams.
Promotion is the last thing on the mind of Cambridge's majority owner Paul Barry, but he could be one for the future.
Elsewhere, Leam Richardson - another ex-Rotherham boss - has dropped to 20/1 to fill the vacancy at Abbey Stadium, the same price as former Bolton manager Ian Evatt.
Ryan Lowe and Des Buckingham started their respective seasons at Preston and Oxford, but now find themselves out of work and also priced at 20/1 to make a quick return to management.
