MK Dons Next Manager Odds: Michael Duff Tipped For Role

Milton Keynes Dons are continuing their search for a new manager following the dismissal of Scott Lindsey and football betting sites have a couple of new favourites in line to fill the vacancy.
Lindsey was given the heave-ho after a dismal run of form which saw MK Dons win only one of their last 11 games.
Ben Gladwin was installed as caretaker manager on March 3 and he has won two of his four games in charge of the club, who are 18th in the table, but highly unlikely to be relegated.
The club’s CEO Neil Hart has confirmed that interviews for the role have been conducted and a replacement for Lindsey should be in place before the end of the season.
But who will it be? We take a closer look at the leading candidates for the MK Dons vacancy.
Duff New Favourite For Dons Role
Michael Duff was one of two out-of-work managers spotted at Whaddon Road for MK Dons' 1-0 victory over Cheltenham last weekend, but was that just a coincidence?
Duff was recently sacked by League One club Huddersfield following four defeats in five games which put a dent in the Terriers' hopes of reaching the play-offs.
Of course, the Northern Irishman has a long history with Cheltenham where he enjoyed two promotions as a player and one as a manager, so he may have just been visiting old friends.
Next MK Dons Manager Odds
Manager | Odds | Probability |
Michael Duff | 4/6 | 60% |
Jon Brady | 5/4 | 44.4% |
Luke Williams | 3/1 | 25% |
Ian Evatt | 4/1 | 20% |
Ryan Mason | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Shaun Maloney | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Ben Gladwin | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Russell Martin | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Des Buckingham | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Graeme Jones | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Paul Warne | 20/1 | 4.8% |
The Robins went up as League Two champions in the 2020/21 season under Duff and he led the club to their highest ever finish in the Football League (15th) in the following campaign.
Duff left the club after four years to join Barnsley and steered the Tykes to the League One play-off final in 2022/23 which they lost in the third minute of extra time to South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
Spells at Swansea and Huddersfield did not work out, but his managerial credentials cannot be disputed and his appearance at the weekend has seen him installed as the 4/6 favourite to take over at Stadium MK.
Brady Waiting For Next Chance After Northampton Spell
Jon Brady was already one of the favourites for the MK Dons position, but his appearance at Whaddon Road on Saturday has increased speculation he could be in line to replace Lindsey.
The Australian was 8/1 to take over at Milton Keynes, but betting apps have since slashed those odds to 5/4 since he was spotted in Gloucestershire.
Brady resigned as Northampton manager in December, although he did not give a reason why he stepped away from the League One side.
That makes it a little difficult to predict when Brady will be back in management, but MK Dons may have already made a bid to try to bring him to the club.
However, given he has not been out of work for too long, Brady might choose to wait and see what else comes up.
Would Williams Drop Down?
Luke Williams had been the 11/10 favourite to be the next manager of MK Dons, but the emergence of Duff and Brady has seen those odds lengthen to 3/1 with betting sites.
The Londoner has worked in League Two in the past with Notts County, before he left in 2024 to join Swansea in the Championship.
Things did not go to plan in south Wales and Williams was dismissed by the Swans last month after a run of seven defeats in nine league games.
MK Dons could try to persuade Williams to get straight back into the dugout, but it would be a hard sell.
Even though he was ultimately fired by Swansea, Williams would presumably be loath to drop back down to League Two having just coached in the second tier.
Evatt Will Be Similarly Difficult To Attract
Ian Evatt left Bolton in January after four and a half years at the helm.
The Trotters were ninth in League One at the time of his exit and Evatt has since revealed that the decision to leave was more his than the club’s.
His reason for doing so makes it unlikely that Evatt will be pitching up at Stadium MK any time soon, despite odds of 4/1.
Evatt revealed he felt he “needed a break” and wanted a “refresh”, so, it is hard to see him taking another job before the summer - especially one at a club in the bottom half of League Two.
Mason Wants To Become A Boss One Day
Forced to retire as a player at the age of 26 after fracturing his skull, Ryan Mason quickly decided to pursue a career in coaching.
He has been a member of Tottenham's backroom staff when Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou were in charge.
Twice Mason has served as the club’s interim manager following the departure of both managers. The 33-year-old doubtless wants to lead a team of his own one day.
He might not be the main man right now, but he is still working with top-class players at Spurs. With MK struggling in League Two, Mason (6/1) would likely reject any approach from the club.
Others in the conversation include former Wigan boss Shaun Maloney (7/1), interim manager Gladwin (10/1), Russell Martin (16/1), Des Buckingham (16/1), Graeme Jones (20/1) and Paul Warne (20/1).
