Punchestown Festival Tips: Best Bets On Saturday

The Punchestown Festival has gone by in the blink of an eye, and we find ourselves on the final day of Irish racing's big meeting.

As expected, there has been an abundance of drama and top-class action.

Betting sites have had a good week thanks to some big-priced winners, but there have also been enough strong favourites going in to keep punters in the game.

Saturday's card features two Grade Ones, but we will focus most of our attention on the wide-open handicap races.

Punchestown Festival Saturday Tips

Tip 1: 15:05 - Your Own Story 0.5pts Each-Way - 10/1 With Bet365 (6 Places)

The handicap races have proven to be minefields throughout the week.

That may well prove to be the case here, but Your Own Story stands out as a good each-way bet with six places up for grabs with some horse racing betting sites.

Lucinda Russell doesn't send too many horses across the Irish Sea, but she is a master at placing her horses in the right races.

Her nine-year-old comes here off the back of a fine second-place finish at Kelso last time, where the application of a visor seemed to work a treat.

He was second in this race 12 months ago off the same mark as today, so can hopefully grab a place at the very least.

Tip 2: 16:15 - Jasmin De Grugy 0.5pts Each-Way - 10/1 With Unibet (5 Places)

Jasmin De Grugy had a winning streak of five before finishing third at Newbury at the beginning of March.

Although his jumping has been sketchy at times, that hasn't stopped him from winning two of his three starts over fences.

Anthony Honeyball's charge has been dropped 3lbs for his Newbury performance, and receives weight from all but one of his rivals here.

A small step up in trip and slightly better ground should help him get involved.

Tip 3: 16:50 - Poniros 1pt Win - 3/1 With Bet365

Poniros caused the biggest upset at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, winning the Triumph Hurdle at 100/1.

Even more incredible is that he had never jumped a hurdle in public beforehand.

You would have to imagine that he will improve from that run, putting the experience he garnered to good use.

Lulamba is no doubt a special horse and was unlucky to find a bit of trouble in running at Cheltenham.

He finished just a neck behind Poniros in the end, so we should be in for another titanic tussle.
