Rocket Classic Betting Tips: The Panel Pick Out 5 Selections From Detroit Golf Club

With all three majors on US soil and the eight Signature Events wrapped up for another year, the PGA Tour takes a collective sigh before the start of the FedExCup playoffs in August.
This week, the Tour heads to Michigan for the Rocket Classic at the Detroit Golf Club which is hosting the event for the seventh successive year.
Many of the elite players have skipped the tournament after an exhausting run, but Collin Morikawa starts as the 14/1 favourite on best betting sites, closely followed by Patrick Cantlay (16/1).
Both players have runners-up finishes in their sole appearances on the North Course, a par-72, 7,370-yard tree-lined track containing small, contoured Bentgrass greens overseeded with Poa Annua, just like last week at River Highlands.
Russell Henley finished one shot behind winner Keegan Bradley at the Travelers Championship to give The Panel a placed return at 30/1 and hopefully some of you took the eight spots available on Brian Harman instead of the six advised at 66/1.
It should be a low-scoring week on one of the easiest courses on the PGA Tour where defending champion Cameron Davis is bidding to win the tournament for a third time and can be backed at 100/1 with SpreadEx.
However, the Australian’s poor form in recent weeks means The Panel are focusing on other players for their Rocket Classic betting tips which involve three outrights, a top 20 and first-round leader.
Rocket Classic Betting Tips: Matsuyama The Man
The last six winners of the Rocket Classic have featured in the top five for Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and only Bryson DeChambeau in 2020 was outside the top 10 for Approach (51st), so these are two areas worth looking at in this preview.
One player that stands out is Hideki Matsuyama who ranks 21st and 35 in both categories, although he was even better in both areas at River Highlands last week.
The 2021 US Masters champion picked up four shots against the field in the Tee-to-Green category, second only to JJ Spaun, and was top for Approach by more than half a stroke (+3.21), so it was a surprise he only finished T30.
Finding the right spot below the pin on these contoured greens could be crucial this week in order to avoid tricky downhill putts, so Matsuyama’s Approach numbers are encouraging.

The Japanese is also one of the best scramblers on the PGA Tour which should stand him in good stead if he ends up in one of the collection areas off these crowned greens.
Four years ago, Matsuyama had to withdraw from the tournament with Covid (remember that?) and he missed the cut in 2023, but he was 13th and 21st in his first two visits, so he has course form.
The world number 12 started 2025 with a record-breaking victory at The Sentry and although he has failed to post a top-10 since, he could take advantage against a weakened field and is worth a dabble at 30/1 as the first of this week’s Rocket Classic predictions.

Rocket Classic Odds: Time For Cantlay To End Drought
Patrick Cantlay last entered the winner’s circle almost three years ago, but the signs are there he could soon put a halt to his dry spell.
The American finished behind Tony Finau in a tie for second on -21 in his only appearance at this course four years ago, so it’s clear this track suited his eye from the get-go.
Like Matsuyama, Cantlay’s Tee-to-Green and Approach stats were great in Cromwell where he was third and fourth in these respective categories, although he has ranked high for both all season.
Only a poor performance with the putter prevented Cantlay from finishing higher than 12th.
It’s been a case of feast or famine for the eight-time PGA Tour winner in recent weeks, with his last six results reading 13-4-MC-12-MC-12.
There is more good than bad in there and it is surely a matter of time before he lifts a trophy once more.
At 16/1 with golf betting sites, The Panel are going for the win only market on Cantlay.
Rocket Classic Prediction 2: Patrick Cantlay (Win Only) - 16/1 With PricedUp
Rocket Classic Predictions: Hop On Harry
Englishman Harry Hall may have a no-frills name, but his game is in excellent shape as he sets his sights on a maiden PGA Tour title.
The 27-year-old from Cornwall has finished inside the top 30 in six successive tournaments and was ninth in Connecticut last week.
Hall, like The Panel’s other two selections, was very strong in the two categories that could be the key to success in Detroit; sixth from Tee-to-Green and fourth for Approach.
However, Hall also has another string to his bow – putting. Only Sam Burns has better numbers with the flatstick than Hall this season and he was solid on the greens last week.
It’s coming up to a year since Hall celebrated his first and only PGA Tour victory at the ISCO Championship in a five-man play-off.
Hall would love to show that win was no fluke and looks a good shout at 35/1 on betting apps to repeat the trick.
Rocket Classic Prediction 3: Harry Hall (Each-Way) - 35/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)

Rocket Classic First-Round Leader Tips: Wallace To Make Hot Start
Matt Wallace is 66/1 with Unibet to win a second PGA Tour title, but The Panel prefer the Englishman in the first-round leader market at higher odds instead.
Wallace has been getting off to fast starts lately: second at both the Corales Puntacana Championship, which he won two years ago, and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial.
The Englishman also started quickly with playing partner Thorbjorn Olesen at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, although they went on to miss the cut.
Wallace has twice been on the podium at the Rocket Classic after day one (2020 and 2022) and his form suggests he could go well again in Detroit following three top-25 finishes in his last four outings.
Hopefully, Wallace can burst out of the blocks again at 75/1 with Star Sports, although thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon so a morning start would be preferrable.
Rocket Classic Prediction 4: Matt Wallace (Each-Way) First-Round Leader - 75/1 With Star Sports (Six Places)
Rocket Classic Top 20 Tips: Rozner Can Shine On Debut
Antoine Rozner is making his first appearance at the Detroit Golf Club but he catches the eye at 5/1 with Ladbrokes for a top-20 finish.
There are plenty of examples of players performing well on their debuts at this course, with 22 from this week’s field finishing in the top 20 over the last six years.
Rozner looks an interesting each-way bet at 150/1 with SpreadEx for a maiden PGA Tour victory, but that may be beyond him this week.
The Frenchman has finished inside the top 35 in four successive tournaments (five if the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is included) and he has been really strong on Approach this season.
Putting is likely to let him down ultimately, but his irons may be enough to sneak him into the top 20 at a reasonable price.
Rocket Classic Prediction 5: Antoine Rozner Top 20 - 5/1 With Ladbrokes
