Texas Open Betting Tips: 5 Selections From The Oaks Course At TPC San Antonio

The PGA Tour remains in the Lone Star State for the curtain-raiser to next week’s US Masters which sees Ludvig Alberg 12/1 favourite on betting sites to win the Texas Open.
There is still one spot available for those who haven’t already qualified for Augusta, so there is plenty at stake for some of those competing this week.
The fairly lengthy Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio consistently ranks inside the top 20 for difficulty and favours excellent ball-strikers who are strong on approach and can find these undulating greens.
Precision off the tee rather than distance is an asset this week which, as is usual at the Texas Open, will be affected by wind, especially on Friday and Saturday, with the occasional thunderstorm thrown in for good measure.
There have been some big-priced winners at this event in recent years, so it will be a tough task finding a winner this week.
That said, The Panel made a healthy profit in March and are well up for the year, so hopefully that trend continues with this week’s five Texas Open betting tips which start with a familiar name.
Texas Open Tips: Two-Time Champion Conners Headline Pick
The Panel selected Corey Conners three times in March and were paid out on each occasion, so it makes sense to kick off April with the Canadian, who has won this tournament twice in the last five years.
Conners’ success in Texas means his price is unsurprisingly lower than usual at 16/1 with golf betting sites, but his prospects of a three-peat are greater in a field much weaker than it was last week.
The world number 21 skipped the Houston Open, so his record of just one missed cut since the 2023 US Open remains intact.
Conners is one of the most accurate players off the tee and his greens in regulation percentage of 70.56% puts him inside the top 20 for that statistic.
His last three tournaments read third at Bay Hill, sixth at Sawgrass and eighth at Copperhead, so he is knocking on the door for a third Houston Open title.
Texas Open Prediction 1: Corey Conners (Each-Way) - 16/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)

Texas Open Odds: McCarthy Can Go One Better
Denny McCarthy is another consistent sort who has not missed a cut on American soil since the 2024 USPGA Championship, although it’s been well over a year regarding a non-major tournament.
McCarthy has yet to win a PGA Tour title, but went closest to ending that run at this tournament 12 months ago when he birdied the final seven holes to force a play-off which he lost to Akshay Bhatia.
The pair were nine shots clear of their nearest rival, Rory McIlroy, so it really was a two-horse race, although McCarthy certainly brought the drama with a closing 63.
Last year, McCarthy was second only to Bhatia tee to green and he was third for putting, one of the American’s strengths, and if he can continue his excellent start to the season he won’t be far off passing the winning post ahead of the rest.
His numbers in 2025 are excellent, especially for approach and greens in regulation which should give him plenty of opportunities with the flatstick.
McCarthy finished 14th at Sawgrass in his last outing to make it four top 20s in five and he looks a livewire at 28/1 with William Hill.
Texas Open Prediction 2: Denny McCarthy (Each-Way) - 28/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)
Texas Open Predictions: Hop On Hodges
Lee Hodges’ price has been cut since the start of the week, but odds of 50/1 with betting apps still look worth taking.
Hodges missed The Players Championship with a minor rib problem but made a promising return to action with 11th at Memorial Park and needs to win this week if he is to play at the US Masters for a second time.
That’s a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the 29-year-old from Alabama, but he has some good memories of playing at TPC San Antonio where he finished sixth in 2023, sandwiched between a couple of missed cuts.
That said, Hodges was only let down by his putter 12 months ago when he had positive numbers tee to green and for approach.
Encouragingly, Hodges ranks sixth in Strokes Gained: Putting this season and with all other facets of his game in working order, he could challenge for a second PGA Tour title.
Texas Open Prediction 3: Lee Hodges (Each-Way) - 50/1 With William Hill (Eight Places)
Texas Open Betting Tips: Bhatia To Burst Out Of Blocks
Bhatia unsurprisingly topped the tee to green and approach rankings 12 months ago in his third appearance at the course and he looks an interesting option at 25/1 with Betfred for back-to-back Texas Open titles.
However, The Panel like the 45/1 on offer with BoyleSports for the American to lead after round one just as he did 12 months ago during his wire-to-wire victory.
Close analysis of Bhatia’s recent performances on a Thursday show that he is a fast starter, with three tops 10s in his last five appearances, so he is no stranger to appearing on the front page of the leaderboard after day one.
Fourth after his opening round at both the Phoenix Open and The Players Championship, Bhatia was also just two off the lead at the Mexico Open, so his recent record suggests another quick start could be brewing as the next leg of The Panel's Texas Open predictions.
Texas Open Prediction 4: Akshay Bhatia First-Round Leader (Each-Way) - 45/1 With BoyleSports (Six Places)
Texas Open Tips: Enterprising Kirk Set For Bold Bid
The last of this week’s Texas Open betting tips is for Chris Kirk to finish inside the top 20 at 16/5 with BetVictor.
Kirk has done exactly that in five of his eight visits to the Oaks Course and although he has made a patchy start to the season, he missed out on the top 20 by one shot at Bay Hill in his penultimate appearance.
His approach numbers were positive during his last outing at Sawgrass and, aided by his putter, Kirk finished a respectable 42nd.
The American is hardly a cast-iron guarantee to finish in the top 20, something he has yet to achieve in 2025, but he has made the cut in three successive tournaments and should have a chance if he gets to the weekend at a track he clearly loves.
Texas Open Prediction 5: Chris Kirk Top 20 - 16/5 With BetVictor
