NHL Playoffs: Western Conference Injury Reports

The first round of the NHL’s Western Conference playoffs gets going Monday, with the Minnesota Wild opening their series in Dallas against the Stars, and the L.A. Kings in Edmonton to take on the Oilers. On Tuesday, the Colorado Avalanche get going at home against the Seattle Kraken, making their NHL playoff debut, and the Winnipeg Jets are in Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights.
The Proline Moneyline for the Oilers/Kings: Oilers 1.53, Kings 2.55. Dallas is 1.67, the Wild 2.25. For Tuesday it’s Colorado 1.50, Seattle 2.60, and Vegas 1.65, the Jets 2.25.
As everyone knows, carry-over injuries from the marathon NHL regular season is a massive factor when deciding who to put your money on. So to get you ready to make your Stanley Cup playoff betting, we take a look at the injury front of the Western Conference teams with the first round starting on Monday.
Minnesota Wild
C Oskar Sundqvist has had a lower body issue and is day-to-day, but the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that he was practising in a non-contact jersey. LW Marcus Johansson has been day to day with an upper-body issue and was in a regular jersey at practice, The Athletic reported C Mason Shaw is done for the season with a knee injury and C Joel Eriksson is going to be out for a while with a lower-body injury.
Dallas Stars
The Stars are in pretty good shape on the injury front. RW Matej Blumel is out long term.
Edmonton Oilers
Again, like the Stars, the Oilers are in good shape on the injury front. D Ryan Murray has been out with a back issue and is on injured reserve but was sent to the AHL on a conditioning assignment.
L.A. Kings
D Alex Edler has had an upper-body issue but should be good to go for Game 1. LW Kevin Fiala has a lower-body injury and is out indefinitely. He wasn’t at practice today. C Gabriel Vilardi is also listed as day-to-day, and skated before practice today, CBS Sports reported.
Colorado Avalanche
Is there a more devastating loss for any NHL playoff team than LW Gabriel Landeskog, out for the season with a knee injury? D Josh Manson is also day-to-day, but the Denver Post reported that Manson plans to play in Game 1. D Cale Makar has had injury problems all season but should be good to go, according to CBS Sports. If he is out, that’s a massive loss. C Andrew Cogliano is day-to-day, and listed as questionable for Game 1. LW Darren Helm was previously labelled as out indefinitely.
Seattle Kraken
LW Andre Burakovsky has a lower-body injury and will miss the start of the playoffs. RW Daniel Strong is day-to-day with an undetermined injury, and it’s unclear if he will start in Game 1.
Winnipeg Jets
LW Nikolaj Ehlers is the big question with an upper-body injury. TSN reports that Ehlers told reporters he would be ready for Game 1. C Kevin Stenlund is day-to-day with a lower-body issue.
Vegas Golden Knights
G Robin Lehner is out for the season. RW Mark Stone is out with a back issue, but Vegas Hockey Now reported that he skated at practice a few days ago wearing a no-contact jersey. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Stone practised with the team – huge if they can get Stone back since, unlike during the regular season, the salary cap isn’t an issue. LW William Carrier is out with a lower-body injury, according to Sportsnet.
