With Week 8 a few days away, let’s throw a life raft out for Ontario Sports Bettors again. Here is the CFL Week 8 Schedule.

This Week’s Schedule with Moneylines (All Times Eastern)

  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats 2.53 at Ottawa Redblacks 1.54, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders 5.00 at Toronto Argonauts 1.19, Saturday, 4:00 p.m.
  • British Columbia Lions 1.25 at Edmonton Elks 4.10, Saturday, 7:00 p.m.
  • Calgary Stampeders 2.20 at Montreal Alouettes 1.71, Sunday, 7:00 p.m.

Game of the Week

Saskatchewan Roughriders 5.00 at Toronto Argonauts 1.19

Week 7 showed us that Toronto would keep on scoring no matter what. This is an Argonauts team that scores at a 37.2 point per game clip. For perspective, the next highest-scoring team is Winnipeg at 27.1 points per contest. That is a full ten points a game difference.

For Canadian sports bettors, Hamilton could not keep up early or late against Toronto last week. Can a younger Saskatchewan team have a little more success? The Roughriders are at .500, which is not horrible. Their offense slipped back to around 21 points per match. That is troubling.

Sports bettors expected this from Saskatchewan. Now, does Toronto get a little complacent? One of the big worries from Chad Kelly is consistency. Even last week, Kelly remarked that at 5-0, Toronto worries about what happened to Winnipeg last year.

Yes, Saskatchewan may slip under the radar a little. Toronto has had two weeks of rest and benefits from a relatively easy schedule. The Argonauts travel to an injured Calgary squad, then return home to face Ottawa in Week 10. Chad Kelly has seen his MOP odds shorten to 2.75, while Zach Collaros is not the favorite anymore at 3.25.

Can Saskatchewan throw a wrench into Toronto’s offense? Anything is possible in the CFL. Toronto does allow some points at 22.2 a contest. So, tossing dollars on their team overand game over are up for consideration here. Again, that first-half spread at -6.5 is not a bad option either.

The Toronto Argonauts should move up to 6-0 with a win. The Roughriders need to combine a few drives to keep the Over a viable bet. If their team Over dips a little more, consider it at least.

Crazy Bet of the Week

British Columbia Lions 1.25 at Edmonton Elks 4.10

This is wild because Edmonton and home games continually do not mix. It has gotten to the point where books are doing props on when the Elks finally do the deed err win at home. Edmonton averages a league-worst 15 points a contest.

Edmonton has seen some of the worst losses and recently lost to British Columbia via shutout. In that game, though, the Elks did hold the Lions to a mere 22 points. That is why the Under may be one of the more goofy wagers, even at 42.5.

However, the Lions could find themselves looking ahead as they try to go to 6-1. They are ahead of Winnipeg in the standings, and few expect much of anything from the Elks this weekend. See where the Moneyline moves here. With Vernon Adams Jr. banged up, the Lions will play more conservatively.

Let’s roll with the Under first, then maybe Edmonton with the points if it gets to nine or ten. A bet could be possible if that Moneyline gets into the 4.5 territory. The crazier idea is taking the Edmonton Elks field goal, their first score at 5.50. They will not be shut out at home this time.

Power Rankings

  1. Toronto Argonauts
  2. British Columbia Lions
  3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
  4. Ottawa Redblacks
  5. Saskatchewan Roughriders
