NBA: Toronto Raptors vs. Indiana Pacers Predictions, Odds for Feb. 14

Raptors vs. Pacers Preview

The Toronto Raptors (19-35) are set to play their fourth and final game of a four-game homestand tonight against the Indiana Pacers (30-25) on Valentine’s Day. Tonight is the last game before the 2024 NBA All-Star break where the Raptors will be represented by SF Scottie Barnes - the second youngest player, and 9th overall, in franchise history to be selected.

Through 54 games played this season, Barnes joins Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only players in the NBA to total 1000+ points, 400+ rebounds, 300+ assists, 50+ blocks and 50+ steals. They join LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Scottie Pippin and Larry Bird as the only players since 1972-73 to record such totals through the first 54 games of the season.

Raptors Insights

One of the stories to follow on the Raptors’ front in this now-lost season is the progress of rookie Gradey Dick, who scored a team-high 18 points (including 4-5 3PT) in 22 minutes off the bench, in their last game - a 122-99 loss to the San Antonio Spurs Monday.

Dick, who led the team in scoring for the second time this season, scored 10 points in the first quarter, marking a season-high in points in any quarter. He has scored double digit points five times since Jan. 20 after only recording 10+ points two times in his previous 21 games. Dick has now made multiple three-point field goals in a career-high five straight games, which matches the longest streak by a Raptors rookie since Andrea Bargnani.

The Raptors were steamrolled in that last game – the Spurs were led by Victor Wembanyama, who had 27 points, 14 rebounds, and a career-high 10 blocks for his second triple-double, an absolute, dominant statement game for the rookie. Barnes has had to explain himself for leaving the team bench a few seconds before the final horn and walking to the dressing room on his own. Raptors’ head coach Darko Rajakovic called it a “learning opportunity” for Barnes, according to Sportsnet reporting, but it certainly wasn’t a good look for a player the Raptors are building their roster around going forward. Barnes said he was frustrated, and said it was a mistake on his part.

Probable starters for tonight are SG RJ Barrett, Barnes, C Jakob Poeltl, SG Gary Trent and SG Immanuel Quickley. Barrett (personal reasons) is listed as “questionable” this morning according to ESPN, something to monitor today.

Pacers Insights

It’s the return of former Raptor PF Pascal Siakam to Toronto. Siakam was traded to the Pacers along with a second-round draft pick on Jan. 18 with SF Bruce Brown, PG Kira Lewis, SF Jordan Nwora, two 2024 first-round draft picks and a conditional 2026 first-round pick going back to the Raptors.

Siakam has been great for the Pacers – in 14 games he has been shooting 57.9% (he was at 52.2% for the Raptors this season) and is at 41.9% from 3PT range (31.7% this season with the Raptors). The Pacers sit sixth in the Eastern Conference and are coming off a 111-102 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.

G Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring) and G Bennedict Mathurin (knee) are listed as questionable for the game, according to USA Today.

Player Props

On the sports betting front, according to BetMGM, it’s all about Siakam – Over 21.5 Points (1.85) is a particularly popular player prop, along with Immanuel Quickley Under 25.5 Points + Assists (1.70), and Tyrese Haliburton Over 11.5 Assists (2.00).

Same thing at FanDuel – Siakam to Record a Double-Double (3.60) and Siakam to Score 35+ Points (10.50) seeing the most player prop action, as well as Haliburton Over 11.5 Assists (1.77).

Raptors vs. Pacers Betting Odds: Our Picks & Predictions

  • Moneyline 2.50 (Raptors), 1.55 (Pacers)
  • Spread +4.5 1.90 (Raptors), -4.5 1.91 (Pacers)
  • Over/Under 244.5

The Raptors were embarrassed against the Spurs, who were losers of seven straight going into the game, with a record of 10-43. Probably their worst loss of the season, certainly on home court. So, home court advantage (11-15 at home this season) is a non-factor for teams coming into Toronto this year. Siakam will be jacked coming back to Toronto. Checking out NBA odds, we suggest you take the Pacers ATS, even likelier if Barrett sits out.
