Delaware Casino Revenue Slips To $33.7m As Competition Grows

In February, Delaware’s three casinos reported lower overall revenue, totaling $33.7million - a 0.8% decrease from the same month last year.

State officials said the dip reflects shifting consumer preferences and increased competition from neighboring markets.

Video lottery terminals generated $30.2m, down 0.5% year over year, but remained the primary source of casino revenue.

Table games brought in $3.5m, a 3.2% decline compared to February 2025.

Delaware Park Maintains Lead Despite Overall Decline

Delaware Park, the state's largest gaming facility, generated $14.5m in revenue, down 1.2% from the prior year.

In Wilmington racino, the trend in video lottery-style slots paralleled the national trend.

Slots climbed 1.1% to $12.7m, but table games plummeted 15.2% to $1.7m.

Analysts say this is due to increasing competition from new casinos in Maryland and Pennsylvania, which have been promoting their live dealer games.

Harrington Casino Posts Steepest Drop

According to the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement, Harrington Casino logged the biggest drop in revenue among the three casinos, posting a 1.8% decrease to $7.9m.

Whereas the central Delaware Casino saw a substantial 4% drop in revenue from video lottery games (VLT) to $7.1m, it experienced a remarkable 24.2% increase in table game revenue, generating $784,304.

This suggests investor confidence in Harrington Casino's new table games draws customers from outside its immediate market area.

“Delaware’s February dip highlights growing pressure from regional rivals and digital gaming, signaling that smaller markets must adapt quickly to shifting player preferences and intensifying competition to sustain long-term growth.”

Bally's Dover Bucks The Trend

Bally's Dover saw revenue increase to $11.4m, up 0.4%.

The market shows comparable, steady growth in player segments for hit video lottery games, with revenue topping $10.4m and 4.7% growth in table games revenue to $965,192.

The location near the state capital may negate at least some potential competition from rivals.

Industry Headwinds Persist

The month-on-month drop in February is part of a broader pattern of slowing growth in Delaware's gaming industry, while many of the states bordering Delaware have expanded their casino operations significantly over the past 10 years.

Even though some of those states are successfully providing internet-based gaming options, Delaware remains dependent on its three existing racinos and can be affected by changes in the surrounding economy.

Table games, which have been viewed as a growth driver for the industry, have been highly susceptible to competition from neighboring states.

Maryland casinos, including the MGM National Harbor resort just outside Washington DC, have been providing a wide range of table games that have been attractive to the southern and western regions of Delaware.

The industry still manages to rake in significant revenue for the state, and while it remains to be seen whether the February decline signals a new trend or was simply a blip in the numbers, analysts have pointed to the need for casinos in the state to invest in improving the quality of their offerings.
