James Corden's Next Job Odds: Gavin And Stacey Star Odds-On To Write New Episode
James Corden quit The Late Late Show last year and moved back to the UK, which fuelled speculation another episode of Gavin & Stacey could be on the way.
The actor and TV presenter has since confirmed he is making a return to the West End in the political-set play The Constituent, alongside Line of Duty actress Anna Maxwell Martin.
The production runs from June 13th to August 10th at London's Old Vic Theatre - but what will James do afterwards?
UK betting sites have been busy speculating, and it looks to be good news for Gavin & Stacey fans.
Corden's Smithy Return?
Following his theatre return, James is 4/6 on specials betting sites to co-write and appear in a new episode of the beloved BBC sitcom, which was created by James and Ruth Jones.
The show returned to huge acclaim in 2019 following a nine-year break, but the one-off episode ended with a massive cliffhanger when James' character Smithy was proposed to by Ruth's alter-ego Nessa.
The credits rolled before Smithy could provide an answer, and most of the UK has been on tenterhooks since.
Social media flew into overdrive last month when there were reports the popular BBC sitcom was set to make a Christmas comeback as early as this year, but Ruth later insisted on RTE Radio 1 that it was "sadly a rumour".
Just last week, when asked on BBC Radio 2 whether fans would ever see the characters together again, Ruth said: "Who knows, you never say never in this world do you? I don’t know."
However, speculation about a Christmas comeback has been stronger than ever this year.
Several members of the cast were even spotted together last week when the likes of James, Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman, Melanie Walters, and Adrian Scarborough all headed to the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End to support Ruth on the press night of her new musical, Sister Act.
It was the first time most of the cast had been spotted together since the 2019 festive special, and it wouldn't be a surprise if another episode was around the corner.
James To Replace Jeremy?
If that doesn't materialise, then James could be an ideal host for a show like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.
While Jeremy Clarkson is currently in the hot seat on the ITV programme, James is just 2/1 to take his place.
In March 2023, Jeremy and ITV were forced to deny speculation he had been axed from the quiz show after five years, but when he does depart, ITV could have a ready-made replacement in James.
But following his The Late Late Show stint in the US, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if James took on a similar UK-based show now that he, wife Julia Carey and their three children are living back in England.
He is 3/1 with betting apps to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton by landing a new British-based chat show.
Fat Friends Reboot?
James may have recently picked up a whole new fan base after his first major TV series Fat Friends - on which he starred alongside Ruth and Alison - recently began airing on Netflix.
The series featured several household names when it first ran on ITV in the early to mid-Noughties, and James is now 5/1 on new betting sites to feature in a reboot of the show following its new-found audience.
What's more, James could even revisit some of his older roots by appearing in a British soap.
He is 6/1 to do so as his next job, and such a cameo would hark back to when the actor starred in Hollyoaks as bumbling janitor Wayne Clark from November 1998 to May 1999.
In the US, James became known for his Carpool Karaoke series, but if he wants to swap singing for dancing then he could do worse than rock up on this year's Strictly Come Dancing series.
He is 10/1 to be a contestant on the BBC programme, or even co-host the Latin and ballroom show.
