Next Huddersfield Manager Odds: Lee Grant Replaces Michael Duff As Town Boss

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley goalkeeper Lee Grant has been named Huddersfield manager on a three-year contract.
Betting sites made Grant the favourite in the last weekend of May and his appointment was finally confirmed after a lengthy search lasting more than two months.
Grant had spent the last three years as a coach at Ipswich, but has now taken the plunge and accepted his first managerial role.
The club had been looking for a manager ever since they sacked Michael Duff in March after a run of poor results.
Jon Worthington had taken charge of first-team affairs on a temporary basis until the end of the season without much success.
The Terriers were the pre-season favourites for promotion and in contention for the play-offs for much of the campaign, but a terrible run saw them finish in 10th place.
Owner Kevin Nagle knew he needed to make a “lot of changes” heading into next season, following the club's decision to increase season ticket prices for the 2025/26 campaign.
Fans had probably been expecting a high-profile appointment, but they have largely reacted positively to the news that Grant will be taking the reins.
Grant Lands Terriers Job
Grant began football management after retiring from a long playing career as a goalkeeper.
Following his decision to hang up his gloves at Manchester United in 2022, he immediately transitioned into coaching, joining Ipswich as a first-team coach under former United assistant Kieran McKenna.
Grant contributed to the team’s promotion from League One and is highly regarded in coaching circles.
He said: "This is an exciting time to be joining the club and there is so much potential and opportunity for us going forward, and I couldn't be more motivated to play my part in that journey.
"I have a clear idea of what I want my Town team to look like and how I want us to play. My priority is to not only win, but give our amazing supporters a side that they're proud to represent them and excited to watch."
Selles Misses Out
Ruben Selles was relieved of his duties by Hull City at the end of the season despite keeping the Tigers in the Championship and he was the favourite at one point with football betting sites to stay in Yorkshire by landing the Huddersfield job.
Former Sun journalist Alan Nixon claimed the Terriers were in talks with the former Reading boss just a week after he was sacked by the Tigers, but a deal was never struck.
Selles won't be out of a job for long, but the John Smith's Stadium will not be his next port of call.
Buckingham Must Look Elsewhere
Des Buckingham was another manager who was in the frame to fill the Town vacancy, but he must look for other opportunities now that Grant has been appointed.
Buckingham will probably consider himself unlucky to have lost his job as Oxford manager earlier this season.
He did a fantastic job in leading United to promotion from League One in 2023/24 and had them in a decent position when the club pulled the trigger in December.
Since then, Buckingham has been linked with several coaching roles and was thought to be in talks with Huddersfield about the vacancy, but a move never transpired.
Big Names Lose Out In Terriers Race
Stephen Robinson and Rob Edwards were just a couple of managers linked with the Huddersfield post, but ultimately missed out.
Robinson already has a job and almost brought European football back to St Mirren boss after an impressive season in the Scottish Premiership.
Betting apps made him one of the favourites to end up in West Yorkshire, but he stuck with the Buddies.
Edwards is looking for a new challenge and still has plenty to offer after a couple of whirlwind years at Luton, but he must look elsewhere for his next opportunity.
Elsewhere, TalkSPORT claimed ex-Town boss David Wagner had been offered a romantic return to Huddersfield, yet a deal was never struck with the German, who engineered the club's promotion to the Premier League in the 2016/17 season.
Luke Williams, Tony Mowbray, Wayne Rooney, Tom Cleverley and Steven Gerrard were also in the frame, but Grant is the man for Huddersfield.
