Next Huddersfield Manager Odds: Edwards Favourite For Terriers Role

Huddersfield look set to miss out on a top-six finish following a dip in form with betting sites already offering odds on who could be the next manager.
Despite being in and around the promotion mix for much of the League One campaign after last season’s relegation, Town’s hopes of an immediate return to the Championship have taken a huge blow.
A 3-0 defeat to struggling Burton Albion means the Terrier's, currently under the interim guidance of academy director Jon Worthington, have lost 11 of their past 17 matches.
The downturn has left Huddersfield ninth in the table and five points adrift of the play-off spots with just four games of the season remaining,
Owner Kevin Nagle has vowed to make a “lot of changes” heading into next season irrespective of which division the club finds itself in.
So could a chaotic season at the John Smith's Stadium be set to take another twist? Let’s take a look at the latest odds should Huddersfield decide to make another switch.
Edwards Ready For New Challenge
It's been a whirlwind couple of years for Rob Edwards. He guided Luton to the Premier League, oversaw their relegation and lost his job after a disappointing first half of the season.
Edwards was relieved of his duties by the Hatters in January with the Kenilworth Road club deep in a relegation fight.
While things ended in disappointment at Luton, it should not be forgotten that Edwards has a promotion from the Championship on his CV and will feel he has plenty to offer.
Whether he is willing to drop down to League One is not known, but Huddersfield could provide the platform for Edwards to show what he can do and he is 6/4 favourite with betting apps to be the next Terriers boss.
Next Huddersfield Town Manager Odds:
Manager | Odds | Probability |
Rob Edwards | 6/4 | 40% |
Wayne Rooney | 9/4 | 30.8% |
Neill Collins | 4/1 | 20% |
Luke Williams | 4/1 | 20% |
Des Buckingham | 5/1 | 16.7% |
David Wagner | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Leam Richardson | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Steve Evans | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Jon Worthington | 9/1 | 10% |
Shaun Maloney | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Steven Gerrard | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Rooney Ready For Return?
Wayne Rooney was relieved of his managerial duties at Plymouth Argyle at the end of last year.
Although he claimed to be waiting on “the right club” after difficult spells in Devon and with Birmingham City, his hunger to get back into the game is evident.
Although there are no obvious links between Huddersfield and Rooney, he finds himself at odds of 9/4 to be the next manager at the John Smith's Stadium.
US Connection Could Prove Key For Collins
Neill Collins began his coaching career with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2018, guiding them to several USL Championship play-off appearances and establishing them as one of the league’s top sides.
In 2023, he returned to the UK to manage Barnsley in League One, earning praise as a promising young coach. However, a five-game winless run led to his dismissal with one match remaining in the 2023/24 season.
Collins has since returned to the United States to take charge of Sacramento FC, a club owned by American businessman and Huddersfield owner Nagle - a connection which sees him installed at 4/1 to be the next boss at the John Smith's Stadium.
Williams Has Coaching Acumen
Luke Williams managed to keep Swansea in the Championship last season, but a lack of progress this term led to his dismissal in January.
While Williams will be hoping his efforts have been enough to land another role in the second tier, a move to League One appears more likely.
Clubs would do well to remember the impressive job he did at Notts County before making the switch to south Wales.
His attractive, attacking style of play is easy on the eye and Williams is now 4/1 with betting apps to lead Huddersfield next season.
Buckingham Showed Great Promise At Oxford
Des Buckingham could consider himself unlucky to lose his job as Oxford United manager earlier this season.
He did a fantastic job in leading the U’s to promotion from League One in 2023/24 and had them in a decent position when the club pulled the trigger in December.
Oxford would doubtless argue that subsequent results under Gary Rowett justified their decision, but Buckingham showed plenty of promise in his first coaching role in the EFL.
At a price of 5/1, he is seen as a realistic contender for a permanent role at Huddersfield.

Wagner Return A Strong Possibility
David Wagner led the Terriers into the Premier League via the Championship play-offs, then kept them in the top flight against the odds.
Wagner is 6/1 with football betting sites to be Duff’s permanent successor and football romantics will hope a deal can be done.
The German has not had a great deal of success since leaving Huddersfield, so perhaps the time has come for a reunion.
Richardson Among Also Rans
Other names being considered for the role include Leam Richardson (7/1).
Rotherham sacked him after a miserable spell, but he does have experience in EFL management.
Elsewhere, veteran boss Steve Evans is 8/1, current interim manager Jon Worthington is 9/1, while Shaun Maloney (10/1) and Steven Gerrard (12/1) are also in the picture.
