Phoenix Open Betting Tips: Six Panel Selections From Rowdy TPC Scottsdale

The rowdiest and most popular tournament in world golf takes place in Houston this week when Scottie Scheffler starts as the 23/10 favourite to win the Phoenix Open for a third time.

Brooks Koepka (2015, 2021), back on the PGA Tour after spending three years with LIV Golf, is also a multiple winner of this tournament and catches the eye at 50/1.

The last two winners here were priced at 100/1, but generally elite players tend to perform well at the par-71 Stadium Course which is 1,250 feet above sea level and measures 7,261 yards.

The highlight, of course, is the par-three 16th, known as The Coliseum where up to 20,000 fans surround the hole. Hundreds of beer cans were thrown onto the green when Sam Ryder aced it four years ago, so the atmosphere can be raucous.

The fairways here are generous, but the greens are firm, fast and difficult to find despite being flat and quite large. Recent winners have been strong in the Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and Putting metrics.

The Panel were unlucky with last week’s four outrights at Torrey Pines where two selections finished just outside the top 10, but they landed a lovely 20/1 winner on Adam Schenk (T11) for a top 20.

This week, The Panel have four outrights, one first-round leader and another top 20 for their Phoenix Open betting tips.

Phoenix Open Betting Tips: Keep Faith With Matsuyama

Hideki Matsuyama was last week’s 28/1 headline pick for the Farmers Insurance Open and he deserves a second chance at slightly lower odds of 25/1.

The 2021 US Masters champion won this tournament in back-to-back years (2016, 2017) having finished runner-up in 2015.

Aside from a wrist injury which forced him to withdraw after the opening round eight years ago, the world number 14 has only once finished outside the top 30 in his previous seven visits, so he is a consistent performer at this desert track.

The Japanese was inside the top 25 from Tee-to-Green and for Approach using the Strokes Gained measure last season, and he was 10th for proximity to the hole which should stand him in good stead.

Matsuyama was solid in the aforementioned stats at Torrey Pines last week and he is expected to go well again at a course he loves.

Phoenix Open Tips: McNealy Getting Closer

Maverick McNealy broke his PGA Tour title duck at the RSM Classic 15 months and went close to adding another on several occasions last season.

The 30-year-old Californian had seven top 10s last season, including ninth place at the Phoenix Open – 12 months after he had finished sixth at the same course.

McNealy posted three successive 70s on the South Course at Torrey Pines to finish outright 10th last week, having got his season off to the year off to a decent start with top 25 at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Twelve months ago, only Chandlers Phillips and winner Thomas Detry, who joined LIV Golf last month, had better putting numbers than McNealy.

The American is also one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour which will be a big advantage this week if he can find the fairways consistently and he looks worth a go at 33/1 with Bet365.

Phoenix Open Golf Predictions: Taylor Made For New Title Challenge

Nick Taylor finished runner-up to Scheffler at the Phoenix Open in 2023, but a year later he made amends by defeating Charley Hoffman in a play-off for his fourth PGA Tour victory.

Taylor also won last year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, so three of his five titles have come on the West Coast at this time of year.

The Canadian has also made an encouraging start to 2026, finishing 13th at Waialae, where he held the halfway lead only to struggle with the wind on Sunday, and he was 27th at La Quinta.

Conditions are expected to be calm this week which will suit Taylor, who has won three tournaments on Bermudagrass, just like TPC Scottsdale, a course he likes and knows well.

When he won in 2024, he said: "A lot of times I’ll buzz out and play some holes on the front nine, but I will play the full 18 holes four or five times a year probably outside of the tournament.

"I made a bit of a shift a couple years ago, just kind of seeing the lines a little bit better on these greens. I’ve always felt comfortable tee to green here.

"But the last couple years I’ve been able to see the lines a little bit better and put a little more work on there. That’s been the biggest difference."

Taylor put in a decent display when defending his title last year (T25) and another bold bid is expected at 66/1 with one of the betting apps.

Phoenix Open Each-Way Tips: Onward Christiaan

Christiaan Bezuidenhout makes the cut in a couple of markets this week, starting with the outrights at 80/1 with Bet365, which is offering eight places.

The South African has improved with each of his three visits to Houston, closing with a five-under-par 66 12 months ago to finish in a tie for fourth place.

Bezuidenhout ended 2025 strongly with fourth at the Hero World Challenge and another top 10 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in his native country.

It’s also been an encouraging start to the new year, with a top 40 at The American Express and 27th spot at the multi-course Farmers Insurance Open.

Bezuidenhout was the sixth best putter on the PGA Tour last year and he was 13th in the Strokes Gained measure for that statistic on this course last year.

He was the second best putter in the field at Torrey Pines where he posted positive figures from tee-to-green, so if he can get those irons in working order, it could be another good week for the three-time winner on the DP World Tour.

Phoenix Open First-Round Leader Tips: Happy Thursday For Bez?

The Panel also like Bezuidenhout in the first-round leader market at 70/1 with Bet365.

Bezuidenhout carded a very impressive opening 68 at Torrey Pines last week, the third best from the field starting on the more difficult South Course.

Prior to last week he had been inside the top 20 in four of his last six tournaments after Thursday’s round, so he has been getting off to fairly quick starts.

What’s even more encouraging is that Bezuidenhout was just three shots off the lead after round one of last year’s Phoenix Open and he was eighth 12 months earlier.

Phoenix Open Top 20: Stick With Schenk

Schenk was great value at 20/1 last week and looks worth backing again at lower odds of 12/1 with SpreadEx.

The American finished in a tie for 11th last week and his record at TPC Scottsdale suggests he could be in the mix again.

Schenk has figures of 23-17-25 in the last three years here, similar to his course form at Torrey Pines, where he was excellent from tee to green and for approach.

Ranked seventh from tee to green here last year, Schenk has to be considered again at another big price.
