How to Score Points

Each horse is awarded points for winning or placing in a race. Extra points are awarded if your runners win major races. Horses also rack up extra points by winning or placing at long odds.

Points are awarded as follows:

• Grade 1 win - 25 points
• Grade 2 win - 20 points
• Grade 3 win - 15 points
• Listed win - 12 points
• Any other race win - 10 points
• An additional 25 points are awarded to winners of 25 designated bonus races - 12 points are awarded to the runners-up.

Points will also be awarded based on the returns to a €1 each-way bet on the Tote in each race a horse runs in.

Example: €1 win at odds of 5.50 + €1 place at 1.20 = 6.70 points awarded.

Ten to Follow Prize Fund

Entry to the 10 to Follow game costs €5.50. The Tote collects the entrance fees and puts them - minus a 10% commission - into a prize pool that is distributed among the players with the best-performing stables.

The prize fund is divided as follows:

• 60% of the prize fund is given to the best-performing stable on the final leaderboard. 
• The runner-up gets 10% of the pool, 
• The third placed player receives 5%. 
• Prizes are awarded to the top 10 players. 
• The player with the most points each month will also be awarded 3% of the pool as a special prize.
• The winner will be guaranteed a minimum of €20,000. If the winner’s 60% share of the net pool is less than €20,000, Tote will contribute the difference to a total of €20,000 in prize money to the winner.

1. Try to identify horses that are likely to thrive in two or more of the bonus races each season. They are also runners that generally win Grade 1 and Grade 2 races, so they should help you accumulate lots of points.

2. Add in a couple of unheralded runners that could win at long odds, along with a couple of prolific runners that will take part in plenty of races. That will give you a balanced stable.

3. If you cannot decide on all 10 runners, use the Smart Pick algorithm to complete your stable. It has been fine-tuned to select the optimum balance, based on detailed historical data, and it also targets bonus races, so it is a valuable tool. However, it is best not to solely rely on it, as that might make it difficult for you to outperform the competition.
