Louisiana Casino Gaming Revenue Grows 10% In 2025

In 2025, the Louisiana casino gaming market delivered strong growth, with total revenue rising by roughly 10% to $2.17billion across all gaming verticals, including land-based casinos, riverboat casinos and racetrack gaming.

This marked one of the market’s strongest performances in recent years and signaled continued recovery and expansion as the industry moved further away from pandemic-era disruptions.

Growth was broad-based and supported by steady month-to-month improvements throughout the year.

Louisiana’s diverse gaming mix - riverboat casinos along major waterways, Class A casinos, racetrack casinos, and the state’s flagship land-based property in New Orleans - helped stabilize performance and attract a wide range of customers.

Key regional markets such as Lake Charles, Shreveport and Bossier City remained major contributors due to their geographic positioning and strong cross-border appeal.

Tourism And Regional Demand Drive Growth

Tourism played a critical role in boosting revenue in 2025.

Increased travel and a rise in out-of-state visitation - particularly from Texas and neighboring southeastern states - helped fuel demand at Lake Charles–area casinos.

These properties benefited from their integrated resort offerings, combining gaming, hotels, dining, nightlife and entertainment, which encouraged longer stays and higher per-visit spending.

The New Orleans gaming market also contributed meaningfully to statewide growth.

Strong convention activity, major events and leisure tourism supported land-based casino performance, while racetrack casinos and smaller local properties posted modest but consistent gains driven by repeat visits from local patrons.

Diversification, Sports Betting And Outlook

Casino operators continued to diversify their offerings beyond gaming floors.

Expanded dining options, upgraded hotel accommodations, entertainment venues and larger gaming areas helped properties remain competitive in an increasingly crowded market.

These enhancements also aligned with changing consumer behavior, as guests increasingly seek experiences that deliver added value for discretionary spending.

Sports betting further expanded Louisiana’s gaming ecosystem following its continued rollout statewide.

While wagering remains a separate revenue stream from traditional casino gaming, it has boosted overall brand engagement and created opportunities for cross-promotion across casino properties.

The rise in casino revenue delivered meaningful benefits to state and local governments.

Higher gaming tax collections and associated fees continued to support education, infrastructure projects and other public programs, reinforcing gaming’s role as a reliable source of public funding.

Looking ahead to 2026, the outlook for Louisiana’s casino industry remains cautiously optimistic.

Competitive pressure from neighboring states and evolving consumer preferences persist, but 2025’s performance demonstrates the strength of the state’s diversified gaming model.

With solid tourism trends and ongoing investment by operators, Louisiana’s gaming market appears well positioned for continued, sustainable growth.
