Eurovision Favourites 2023 – Top 3 In Focus

Eurovision betting markets are open and punters can now pick from the 37 countries taking part in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

Whether you like to play it safe, or prefer riskier Eurovision bets, the latest Eurovision odds will have something for everyone. Take a look at our review of the Eurovision betting favourites for the 2023 competition below to learn a bit more about the big contenders.

Sweden: Loreen

Many of the best betting sites and betting apps predict Sweden will win this year's Eurovision. bet365 for example, have Sweden as 4/9 favourite.

Loreen will represent her nation after she triumphed in the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen. The singer will be no stranger to punters who enjoy a bet on Eurovision, having won the contest in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 2012 with her song 'Euphoria'.

She'll represent Sweden again this year with the song 'Tattoo'. The experienced star admitted it took her four weeks to decide whether she wanted to try out for Eurovision again, before telling the BBC Eurovisioncast podcast: "I think I'm a little bit more chillax now so I'm going to have more fun with it."

If Loreen wins this year's Eurovision, she will become only the second act to have triumphed in the contest more than once. Ireland's Johnny Logan was the first to achieve this feat, winning the contest in both 1980 and 1987.

Finland: Käärijä

Rapper Käärijä looks like a solid Eurovision bet as he prepares to represent Finland at Eurovision 2023.

He'll perform the catchy tune 'Cha Cha Cha' after winning Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), the music competition that selects Finland's entries for the Eurovision song contest. Käärijä is 5/2 with William Hill to win it outright.

Eurovision betting aficionados will remember that Finland won Eurovision for the first and only time in 2006 thanks to Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah. As second-favourites in the betting, they'll be hoping to go a lot closer than last year's 21st-place finish.

Ukraine: Tvorchi

After Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra triumphed in Eurovision 2022, Tvorchi - an electronic music duo from Ternopil - will be hoping to defend Ukraine's title with their song 'Heart Of Steel'.

Tvorchi, made up of Andrii Hutsuliak and Jimoh Kehinde, are very popular with Eurovision betting fans, who have backed them down to 12/1 with Unibet to win this year's contest.

Hutsuliak and Kehinde have witnessed the conflict in their country first-hand. The pair have even been forced to go from shelter to shelter at times to avoid missile strikes while rehearsing the song in their home nation.

The Eurovision would have been hosted in Ukraine this year if it wasn't for the war and this due is likely to receive plenty of support in Liverpool, so their price might be a tempting one.

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - Format & Key Info

Having been held annually since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest is both the longest-running international televised music tournament and one of the world’s longest-running TV programmes.

With the Eurovision now attracting over 180 million TV viewers worldwide, there is always a flurry of betting activity on this event, with both new betting sites and traditional bookmakers offering a range of markets for fans of the contest to get stuck into.

Competition Format

Many presume that the Eurovision is a contest for countries based within the boundaries of Europe, but this is not the case. Many non-European countries (that are members of the EBU) are free to participate in the competition, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Australia, Georgia, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, and Tunisia.

To compete in the Eurovision Song Contest, each country must submit a song no longer than three minutes. All submitted entries (other than songs from the 'Big Five') must compete in two semi-final events, which then produce the 26 grand final songs.

During the grand final, the public can submit their votes for their favourite songs. Each country also has a panel of music professionals who award points to their favourite song(s). These points are then combined with the public vote to determine the overall winner.

The Big Five

Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and the UK make up this group of EBU members that provide more financial assistance to the competition than other countries.

As such, the song submissions from these countries go straight through to the grand final every year.

Our recommended Eurovision bookmakers offer a wide range of markets and betting opportunities, for example:

Eurovision Betting Tips & Strategy

Betting on the Eurovision Song Contest adds an extra thrill to an already action-packed competition, and it’s always nice to make a little profit on the side. If you wish to take your betting to the next level, take a look at our top Eurovision betting tips and strategies below.

Look For Bonuses And Promotions

Want to boost your betting bankroll? Take advantage of welcome offers and other bonuses.

Our recommended Eurovision betting sites offer various types of promotions, including deposit matches, Eurovision free bets, cashback offers, and more.

Whether you are new to a site or a returning customer, bonuses allow you to place more bets and (hopefully) receive a nice payout.

Do Your Homework

A little bit of research can go a long way in helping you to place smart Eurovision bets. A great starting point would be to check out the countries participating in 2023’s competition and their submitted songs and artists.

Why not look at social media platforms, such as Twitter and YouTube, to uncover how many likes or positive comments this year’s competitors have? There are also lots of online polls where die-hard Eurovision fans predict the winners.

You have a much better chance of generating a nice profit if you can gauge voters' opinions.

Have a Smart Staking Plan

While Eurovision 2023 odds may successfully highlight the countries most likely to win, there have been many cases in which those predicted to win have struggled to make the top 10.

Anything can happen at the Grand Final. So, try spreading your stakes and placing smaller Eurovision bets on various countries to win, instead of staking all your funds on one winner.

Live Eurovision Betting

Don’t get us wrong - betting on the Eurovision Song Contest is exciting enough as is. However, placing live Eurovision bets, as the action unfolds, adds another layer of intrigue to the competition.

The best live betting sites let you bet during the semi-finals or finals before voting has closed. The odds often shift and change in response to what’s happening in the event, so betting on Eurovision live also gives you the chance to place more rewarding wagers.

UK Odds To Win Eurovision 2023

The UK came agonisingly close to winning Eurovision 2022 when Sam Ryder's 'Space Man' finished second behind Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra tune 'Stefania'.

The UK are without a victory in the contest since 1997 - when British rockers Katrina And The Waves triumphed with 'Love Shine a Light' - yet they are one of the most successful countries in the competition. The UK has recorded five Eurovision victories, the same number as France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.

Singer-songwriter Mae Muller will represent the UK this year, and she is hoping to overcome her huge Eurovision betting odds of 50/1 with Boylesports to win the contest.

The BBC revealed the 25-year-old star was picked to represent the UK following an extensive search headed by global music management and publishing company TaP Music, who had a hand in choosing last year's artist Sam Ryder. Muller will perform her own co-written tune 'I Wrote A Song'.

The singer revealed the track was written when she was "going through a hard time and wanted to feel empowered about relationships". She added that her song's selection for Eurovision was a "dream".

The star might also be inspired to discover that Sam Ryder was a 14/1 fourth-favourite with Eurovision betting sites before last year's contest. Despite being 50/1 with Boylesports, Mae Muller is priced in the mid to high 20s with most UK bookmakers, and some even quote just 12/1 on the star winning the competition. There's no reason why she can't outdo her price in a similar fashion.

The London-born star will be desperately hoping to avoid replicating the UK's several last-place finishes in the competition, and the two nul points results, which occurred in 2003 and 2021.
