Big Brother Odds: Show Cut For Axe As Celebrity Big Brother Is 'Pushed Back'

Big Brother has been cut on betting sites to be shelved, after it was reported next year's Celebrity Big Brother won't air in springtime.
Just days ago, it was reported by The Sun newspaper that Big Brother spin-off show Late and Live is unlikely to return alongside Celebrity Big Brother 2026, which was expected to air in March and April.
And the publication is now claiming ITV has scrapped CBB from its springtime schedule, in another huge blow to fans.
The double whammy has led to some viewers questioning when CBB will air, and even whether the star-studded reality TV show, or the main civilian series, will return at all.
CBB Fears
ITV recently hinted Celebrity Big Brother would be following the main series by moving from ITV1 to ITV2, and it's now thought that change may be part of the reason for the show not airing next spring - because the channel has commitments to other shows and formats.
A source told The Sun: "ITV has confirmed CBB and BB will both air in 2026, but it’s fair to say that news of it being shifted in the schedule for other programmes doesn’t exactly instil confidence.
"Fans will fear it demonstrates a lack of commitment from ITV."
While this has rung alarm bells for some BB and CBB aficionados, ITV has insisted CBB is a "priority reality format".
The source added: "But ITV insist that they love [co-hosts] AJ Odudu and Will Best, and that BB remains a priority reality format because of solid ratings and impressive online streams."
And a spokesperson for ITV said: "We are committed to both Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother beyond 2025, and scheduling for any new series will be confirmed in due course.
"The show remains a priority reality format for us having recently hit 150 million streams on ITVX."
As a result, it is 4/6 on entertainment betting sites for CBB to be back next year, but some fans believe the channel might wait until 2027 (13/8). And it's a 6/1 outsider to be shelved completely.
Big Brother Odds: When Will Celebrity Big Brother Return?
Year | Odds | Probability |
2026 | 4/6 | 60% |
2027 | 13/8 | 38.1% |
Never | 6/1 | 14.3% |
One More Series?
Big Brother fans grew concerned about the civilian series when it was recently reported that the spin-off show has been shelved.
News of CBB being pushed back to further into 2026 has not done much to boost the confidence of those desperate for both CBB and BB to return to our screens.
As a result, it's now 11/8 on betting apps, from 7/4, for Big Brother to be axed in 2026, and 13/8 for the series to be shelved in 2027.
Big Brother Odds: When Will ITV Axe Main Show?
Year | Odds | Probability |
2026 | 11/8 | 42.1% |
2027 | 13/8 | 38.1% |
2028 | 2/1 | 33.3% |
2029 | 3/1 | 25% |
2030 Or Later | 4/1 | 20% |
2025 | 8/1 | 11.1% |
Despite that, we know Big Brother will be returning next year.
In this year's finale, which was won by Richard Storry, Will and AJ revealed applications were open to apply for next year's edition.
AJ said: "Applications for Big Brother 2026 are now open!"
Will added: "So if you think you've got what it takes to be an iconic housemate, head to [the website] for all the info on how you can apply."
CBB To Go First?
Although it is an 8/1 outsider that Big Brother 2026 won't ever see the light of day, it could end up outlasting sister show Celebrity Big Brother.
While Kevin Lygo, ITV’s managing director of media & entertainment, admitted in August that CBB "does really well" on ITVX, the latest news has seen the star-studded series move into 10/11 favourite, from 6/4, to be the first of the two reality shows shelved.
Big Brother is 11/10, and it's 6/4 they're both axed at the same time.
Big Brother Odds: Which Show Will Be Shelved First?
Show | Odds | Probability |
Celebrity Big Brother | 10/11 | 52.4% |
Big Brother | 11/10 | 47.6% |
CBB & BB At Same Time | 6/4 | 40% |
Lygo also insisted earlier this summer that Celebrity Big Brother is a "really important, crucial show", so it may not be going anywhere just yet.
While BB and CBB fans have had a rough few days of news, ITV doesn't look like changing its stance that both shows will at least be back in 2026.
