World Grand Prix Day Three Betting Tips:

With a plethora of surprise victors in the first couple of days at the World Grand Prix, the short format of first to two sets is now finished as we head into the last 16 of the tournament.
Tonight marks the start of the best of five set structured matches, which only makes it more difficult for the underdogs to pull off a shock result.

Anderson To Come Out Flying
Gary Anderson’s opening match with Jose De Sousa was arguably the tie of round one, with both players averaging in excess of 95 in an exhilarating encounter.
Although Ando lost the first set against the Special One, he quickly bounced back with a 3-0 second set, before grinding out a 3-2 victory in the last set.
The electric scoring power has always been an asset of De Sousa’s and tonight’s opponent Andrew Gilding doesn’t pose quite the same threat.
Goldfinger was simply outplayed in the opening set against Rob Cross, losing it 3-0, and his slow start almost cost him, in what was a sluggish match from both with neither breaking a 75 average.
Almost 20 points separated the averages of Gilding and Anderson in round one and Gary knows he will not need to perform at the same standard that has seen his title odds shrink from 16/1 to 11/1 with betting apps, if he wants to progress past Gilding.
Anderson’s career has been littered with success and he is one of just three players alongside Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen to win the Triple Crown that consists of World Championship, World Matchplay and Premier League titles.
Although, the Flying Scotsman is still searching for an elusive World Grand Prix title and his recent form suggests he can go all the way this time round.

Bully Boy To Batter Brendan
Michael Smith claimed a 2-0 win over Callan Rydz in an astute manner, while recording the highest average in round one.
The world No.1 and current world champion has one of the toughest runs in the tournament If he wants to claim the World Grand Prix for the first time, but the 2011 runner-up should prove no match for the Bully Boy.
Dolan was over 10 points short of Smith’s average in his match with Dirk van Duijvenbode, however an impressive fightback showed why he has an affinity for this competition.
However, if Smith is anywhere near as rampant as he was in his destruction of Rydz, we expect him to make lightwork of the History Maker and to progress to the quarter-finals without dropping a set.
It’s evident that the 33-year-old is the power scorer going into this clash, and if he hits his starting double in the same fashion as he did in the first game, we can’t see Dolan picking up more than a couple of legs.
The 8/13 offered by William Hill for Smith to overcome a -1.5 set deficit is incredibly inviting, with a run to the last eight seeming inevitable after his opening performance.

Bunting To Prove Too Much For Schindler
Stephen Bunting recorded one of the wins of round one when he defeated the fifth seed Nathan Aspinall in round one.
The Bullet has performed well in this tournament on a couple of occasions, most notably in 2014 and 2021 when he made the semi-finals, and the St Helens native will believe that after dumping out the Asp, he has a real opportunity to make the latter stages.
Martin Schindler managed to overcome the legendary Raymond van Barneveld in what was a scrappy affair, but we believe the extension of the format could be the German’s downfall in this one.
The Bullet is the narrow favourite on betting sites for this clash (4/6), and a 14-dart last leg decider against Aspinall puts the 38-year-old in great stead heading into this one.
Bunting recently dominated Schindler 6-1 on home soil in the German Darts Open and with the blistering spells the Bullet can put in, we believe he will claim victory in just their second meeting in 2023.
