England have drifted out to 13/2 to win the Women’s World Cup after producing a slightly insipid performance against Haiti in their opener.
The best betting sites expected the Lionesses to win that game by a large margin, so they set the handicap line at 3.5 goals.
However, England only managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory against their unheralded opponents, courtesy of Georgia Stanway’s retaken penalty.

Germany’s players are still licking their wounds after a painful defeat to England in the Euro 2022 final last summer.
It was a tight game, which finished 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, before substitute Chloe Kelly poked home a loose ball in extra-time to hand England the win.
England had home advantage at Wembley, while Germany were missing star player Alexandra Popp, who succumbed to an injury just before kick-off.
The Germans will have the opportunity to avenge that defeat if both teams make it through to the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup.
It will take place on neutral turf, and England are now facing injury problems of their own, as Leah Williamson and star player Beth Mead are both missing.

Back Russo To Grow Into This Tournament
Alessia Russo and Rachel Daly were both in fine form last season, presenting manager Sarah Wiegmann with a selection headache.
