Horse Racing Selections For Sunday And Monday:
- Fairyhouse 14:22 (Sunday) - Spindleberry
- Fairyhouse 16:10 (Sunday) - Sixandahalf
- Fairyhouse 17:00 (Monday) - Haiti Couleurs
Fairyhouse 14:22 (Sunday) - Spindleberry
Spindleberry has shaped with plenty of promise in his career so far and looks ready to take a step forward to Grade One company in the WillowWarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
The seven-year-old has shown lots of ability over hurdles but has taken her form to new heights over fences with a brace of impressive wins, most recently over course and distance at Fairyhouse where she beat the high-class Bioluminescence.
Spindleberry avoided the spring festivals at Cheltenham and Aintree to be kept fresh for this assignment, which can’t be said for her rivals, and she also gets a handy seven pound mares allowance from the majority of the field.
The Alderbrook mare ran a blinder at this meeting last year at 25/1 where she was runner-up to stablemate Jade De Grugy and she is somewhat of a Fairyhouse specialist as she has won her other two appearances at the Ballyhack track.
Fairyhouse 16:10 (Sunday) - Sixandahalf
Sixandahalf was more than useful on the flat and she has made a swift transition to the National Hunt sphere despite being very new to the scene.
She really caught the eye on her jumps debut at Fairyhouse where she showed a useful field a clean pair of heels to beat Qualimita and Kimi De Mai with ease.
On the back of that victory, she was all the rage in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and it looked all over at the last flight until Air Of Entitlement powered up the hill to nail Sixandahalf at the post.
Gavin Cromwell's mare travelled like the best horse in the race and possibly hit the front too soon, but she remains a horse with bags of potential and should be more than capable of mixing it in Grade One company on Sunday.
Fairyhouse 17:00 (Monday) - Haiti Couleurs
Haiti Couleurs announced himself as a serious staying chaser with a commanding victory in the National Hunt Chase at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival — a performance that firmly stamped him as one of the rising stars of the staying division.
He travelled like a class act throughout and showed stamina in abundance to surge clear up the hill to win in style.
What made the performance even more impressive was the way he jumped - fluent, economical and confident at nearly every fence.
That Cheltenham win also confirmed what connections had long suspected; he’s a proper stayer with a big engine and one who relishes a real test of endurance.
Given the manner of the win, he now looks like a legitimate Gold Cup prospect in the making and has all the credentials to take Monday’s Irish Grand National to give Wales their first-ever winner in the race.
