Betting sites have released their odds for the round three fixtures at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship and we’re looking for a repeat of our round one betting tips, where we delivered a clean sweep of winners.
For this round, attention turns to three of the world’s top 16 players as we begin to near the business end of this year's tournament.
Michael Smith was one of the best performers in his opening game and he takes on Madars Razma in round three. Meanwhile, the 2021 World Championship winner Gerwyn Price faces Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan with Stephen Bunting taking on Florian Hempel.

Smith To Prove Too Good
Smith was one of just a few players to average in excess of 100 in his opening match and he had to fight to the very end against Kevin Doets in order to continue his title defence.
The St Helens native is now 10/1 to reclaim his crown and he faces Latvia’s Razma in round three, who also didn’t have things all his own way against Mike De Decker.
With nine points difference in the averages of Smith and Razma in their opening games, it is no surprise we are opting for the World No.2 to secure the win in this contest.
In fact, Smith was ahead of Razma in all three of the Match Treble components in his round two clash, hitting five 180s compared to Razma’s three while recording a high checkout of 150, which exceeded Razma’s 106.
With the tournament now increasing to a best of seven set format, this can only be beneficial for the ‘better’ players as they have more time to get in their groove and find the big scores.
Razma has a tendency to switch down to the 19 segment, so it could be a hammering on the 180 count in the Englishman’s favour in this one.
While we do expect the Latvian to put up some resistance, it should be a comfortable enough victory for Smith like the bookies suggest.
Prudent Price To Outsmart Dolan
Brendan Dolan was involved in one of the best matches in round two, going to a last-leg decider in his 3-2 win over best friend Mickey Mansell.
The Northern Irishman showed grit and resilience against his compatriot and actually lost more legs than he won (13-15) but set play allowed the World No.28 to steal the victory.
Although, he faces a completely different prospect when he squares off with former world champion Price in round three.
Price averaged 98 in his first game at Ally Pally this year and was a comfortable straight sets winner against Connor Scutt.
Under minimal pressure – a match he lost just two legs in – the Iceman only needed a high checkout of 96 on route to a 3-0 win and has more than enough in the locker to up that to a three-figure outshot against Dolan.
Despite Dolan’s resilience in his match with Mansell, he will have trouble matching what Price throws at him and this could be a straightforward win for the Welshman.
Price kicked off with five 180s in his opening match and with the new introduction of the Ballon D’art trophy, he’ll be eager to claim the trophy in its inaugural year.
The Welshman has already topped the 180 charts at the World Championship, back in 2021, and he should prevail in this encounter against the History Maker, while outscoring his opponent in the 180 column.
Bet365 have tabled odds of Evens for Price to claim the Match Treble as the Iceman looks to continue his quest for a second World Championship title.
Bunting's Scoring Could Be The Difference
It is no secret that Stephen Bunting is one of the most in form players in the world of darts at present, and there is a distinct admiration for his scoring power.
The 38-year-old made the semi-final back in 2021 and will hope for a similar run in this year’s event, but has the arduous task of dealing with Florian Hempel in round three.
Both players hit five 180s in their opening matches but it was Bunting who recorded a ridiculous 107.28 average and caught the attention of many punters.
We, along with betting apps, expect Bunting to emerge as the victor in this one, but it is well within the realm of possibility that the tie goes into a seventh set.
The German, is in the last 32 for just the second time in his career and he recorded one of the best comebacks in World Championship history against Dimitri Van den Bergh in round two.
We have opted to utilise his 180 ability by adding that to the fray in this selection, which BetVictor have offered odds of 6/4 for him to record the match treble against Hempel.
Bunting sits 43 places above the German in the PDC rankings and after winning their most recent head-to-head encounter, he may have the upper hand heading into this battle.
As mentioned, this one could go all the way, but we expect the class of Bunting to shine through on the Alexandra Palace stage as he goes in search of a spot in round four.
