Gambling.com Overall Score: 6.2/10 (No. 10 among U.S. sportsbooks)

Our Verdict: Prime Sports is slowly making the case to be the next up-and-coming sportsbook. Its reduced juice offers some of the best odds in the country, and its customer support team can provide one-to-one attention to new users. However, its navigation, design, and overall functionality still need work before becoming a top contender.

Quick Summary: Prime Sportsbook at a Glance

Prime Sports is a niche sportsbook that excels in customer service and odds pricing, as its executive chairman calls "farm-to-table sports betting." In other words, Prime Sports isn't trying to compete with bigger sportsbooks' features and reach. Instead, it's trying to offer something different.

By that definition, Prime Sports hits the mark in many ways. It relies on superior odds, reduced juice, and no-frills interface to cater to sharper bettors in the U.S.

We expect even more expansions coming soon—into more states and into retail locations, as well.

Sports & Markets: 4.25/10

Prime Sports includes all major U.S. sports (football, basketball, hockey,  baseball, tennis, golf, etc), but the breadth is lacking.

That being said, there are high betting limits allowed and the sportsbook doesn't limit frequent winners.

As it stands, the betting variety is pretty limited. Beyond the major North American sports, the markets are limited, and the futures markets are pretty bare.

There are a decent number of player props you can bet, but there are key players without lines, and alternate lines are not an option, at least not at the moment.

Promotions: 5.3/10

Whenever you place wagers, you’ll earn “Prime Points,” which can be used to redeem bonus bets, offering ongoing value to loyal customers. Even better, your points never expire.

Other than that and the welcome offer, sportsbook promotions are limited, though you could argue that built-in reduced juice is its own kind of promotion.

The welcome offer is mediocre compared to competitors, especially since it requires a playthrough. Also, it doesn't currently have any ongoing promos for existing users. I'm happy to see there's a loyalty program.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

It didn't feel like I was missing much. I gave it a middle-of-the-road ranking here because a simple and well-explained loyalty program is in place, which seems fairly generous with its rewards. Hopefully, more existing player promos will be coming to the platform soon.

Payments: 6.75/10

Deposit and withdrawal methods include PayPal, Venmo, online banking, debit/credit cards, and Play+. Even though it includes many payment methods, not having Apple Pay leaves some users behind.

It seems to provide the most widely used payment methods, which is a plus. There are slight differences in what's available in New Jersey vs. Ohio vs. Kentucky, which isn't ideal.

I know the book recently added many payment options, and it seems like what's available now will cover most customers. No, the variety isn't the same as you'd see at some larger books, but it's pretty solid, given Prime's recent arrival and size.

Reviews seem to indicate banking was fairly fast and hassle-free.

Customer Support: 9.5/10

Our expert reviewers gave Prime Sports our highest grade for customer support among all our recommended sportsbooks—and our first-hand experience will tell you why.

Prime Sports provides local service with live chat, email, and a phone number available as contact methods. All customer support options are very responsive and fast. Plus, the live chat is always available.

Customer support is responsive and helpful. I tried the live chat, and connecting with a live operator was much faster than it tends to be with larger sportsbooks.

Nearly every review in the app store is responded to, which tells me that the Prime Sports team is committed to connecting with its users and solving their issues. Many reviewers have returned to their low-star reviews to give higher marks after customer support helped them resolve their problems.

Tom Ober

I wasn't expecting this level of customer service! There are multiple ways to contact, and live chat was speedy when I tried it out. Representatives seem like real people, not just trainees reading from stock responses.

The most impressive thing, though, was that a support specialist called me after I signed up to ensure I was finding everything I needed and able to use the app without any difficulty. I haven't had that experience with any other book!

Reputation & User Feedback: 5.3/10

Prime Sports isn’t as well-known as larger national sportsbooks like DraftKings or FanDuel, nor does it have anywhere near the same reach. Users tend to agree that Prime’s odds and customer service are its strongest features, with room for improvement in its functionality and elsewhere.

Obviously, in terms of reputation, Prime isn't as widely known as major sportsbooks, which may make some users hesitant to trust it; user feedback is mixed.

Some cite the competitive odds and fast payouts as positives, while others complain about the lack of promotions, outdated interface, and limited live betting features.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

Prime isn't as well-known as most of the major books out there, and it does have the feel of a local book, for better and worse.

The "better" part is the great customer service and a stated commitment to competitive odds. The "worse" part is the lack of polished UX and navigation, along with some questionable design and layout choices.

There's room to improve, but the odds and customer-centric approach are a good place to start.

Site UX: 5.0/10

Since our initial review of Prime Sports’ site, the web experience has undergone some major upgrades. Users can now access their state-specific odds and bets. Users had previously reported a lot of clunkiness about betting with the Prime Sports site.

That said, the interface is still relatively basic.

The design of the app and website is very basic and could benefit from modernization. Also, some users have reported longer loading times, indicating room for improvement in performance.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

I had a tough time with the navigation and menus. Not having a central location or hub made me feel a bit adrift, and the menus taking over my entire phone screen as I used them was unexpected and a little odd. The different sections of the book all look very similar and kind of blend together, making it harder to zero in on specific betting markets.

The site could definitely use a facelift visually, and a bit of a reworking in terms of UX to go with it.

Mobile Product: 3.75/10

Prime Sports is unique because it offers different sports betting apps for the states in which it operates. Make sure you download the correct one. State-specific apps have pros and cons, so that will be a user preference.

Prime Sports' mobile app is one area where it is lacking. Users report many issues with logging in, geolocation verification, and overall functionality—it's not remarkably modern-looking. Customer service seems to work well when solving problems in the app.

If Prime Sports plans to expand and compete with the bigger sportsbooks, it must invest in improving its mobile product.

App reviews are mixed as reflected by the mediocre to subpar ratings; common criticisms include slow load times, occasional crashes, issues with geolocation services, and overall performance glitches.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

The different, state-specific apps seem virtually identical to me; in my experience with them, they were smooth and responsive. However, several reviews mentioned crashes and inconsistent connectivity.

The app's interface is not great, though. It seems to lack a central hub, and it always feels like you're knee-deep in menus and navigation. It can be hard to jump from section to section, and the layout and color scheme make information difficult to parse and even hard to read in some cases.

Responsible Gambling: 7.0/10

Prime has all the standard responsible gambling tools, including deposit limits, wagering limits, time limits, self-exclusion, etc; however, it doesn't seem to have nearly as much information about gambling responsibly as competitors.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

It's a mixed bag with the Responsible Gaming section. It wasn't intuitive for me to click on the "RG" icon to get to that section of the app or site. Once there, there isn't as much education (articles or posts) about problem gambling.

Shannon Lane
Shannon Lane

Still, there are action-oriented sub-sections you can select to assess your habits or quickly access the self-exclusion, cool-off, or gaming limit tools. Overall, I think the tools and commitment to responsible gaming are up to par, and the addition of betting guides and content has made a huge difference.

Live Betting Features: 4.75/10

Live betting is available, but live streaming is very limited to just a few sports.

Attribute Icon - Red Play

Like the overall betting variety, the live wagering options are limited, though I expect this to keep expanding. I actually do really like the quick menu options for Live Now/Next 1H/Next 3H; I wish some other higher-profile books had that kind of sorting/snapshot feature.

Shannon Lane
Shannon Lane

I do have to note that some of those menu options didn't always work correctly. One step forward and one or two steps back seem to be par for the course with Prime right now!

Odds: 10/10

Our expert reviewers gave Prime Sports the highest possible grade for its odds value.

Prime Sportsbook offers -108 vig (the fee an operator charges for accepting a wager) on sides, totals, and moneylines across major U.S. sports, from the NFL to the NBA. Also known as the “juice,” the standard vig for sports betting is -110 for both sides, meaning you’ll get -110 odds no matter which team you bet on in a match that is judged even (i.e., having no point spread).

So reduced “juice” translates to better odds for sports bettors.

Attribute Icon - Red Odds Value
Shannon Lane
Shannon Lane

The superior odds are definitely the biggest selling point of this sportsbook. Prime Sports probably has the best-priced odds in the industry. Because of the reduced vig, users usually get the most competitive prices here. Users report using this book, despite all of the UX issues, simply because the odds are so good, which is saying a lot.

Tom Ober
Tom Ober

When you visit the Prime Sports website, the first thing mentioned is Reduced Juice. The book welcomes line shoppers and sharps while giving recreational bettors solid odds.

A spin through the different betting markets backs this up, with most bets available with odds equal or better than most national sportsbooks. A significant portion of sports bettors will put up with other deficiencies to get the best odds, and Prime really stands out here.
