The 2024 Copa America, running from June 20 to July 14, is the South American soccer championship. The tournament occurs at irregular intervals; previous editions were held in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2021 (postponed due to COVID). Copa America is renowned for its flair and stylish play, featuring some of the world's best players.

1. bet365 Sportsbook

After investigating the best sports betting sites. in the U.S for Copa America betting, I had no choice but to choose bet365 Sportsbook as the No. 1 option. I was seriously impressed with bet365's offering for the tournament.

bet365 offers Super Boosts for every tournament day, so you can find something new every time you log on.

There's a single landing page that's easy to find right from bet365's homepage. You'll find clearly displayed upcoming matches, a Same Game Parlay+ bet builder, profile pages, and popular markets by country there.

bet365's profile pages for Copa America rival those of DraftKings or FanDuel for top leagues like the NFL and NBA. Individual player pages and team pages are filled with all available prop bets.

bet365 Sportsbook has also listed all participating teams, their groups, and the tournament bracket, so you can get all the handy info you need in one place.

For those of you looking to bet and watch on the go, bet365 has one of the best sports betting apps with is bet & watch feature.

The only drawback (and it's a small one) for betting on Copa America with bet365 is the limited futures markets.

2. DraftKings Sportsbook

Like with virtually every other event DraftKings Sportsbook covers, the Copa America betting markets are extensive: player props, team props, game parlays, player parlays, same-game parlays, corners totals, points totals, player futures, team futures, group futures, and specials.

There are many betting lines and odds to choose from, which is perfect for placing a single bet or parlaying them for a big payout at the end of the tournament.

With a little research and patience, DraftKings is a great Copa America betting site option.

3. BetMGM Sportsbook

While the Copa America betting markets at BetMGM Sportsbook are pretty standard, you can easily display them by group for individual games and futures. Once you choose a game, you'll find tons of prop bets, as well as pre-built parlays. BetMGM's signature parlay builder is available for Copa America, as well.

What really caught my eye, though, was the option only to show U.S. national team bets.

Naturally, U.S. bettors will be more interested in the latest odds for the American team to advance, which is an incredibly helpful feature of BetMGM's Copa America betting site.

4. Caesars Sportsbook

What I like most about Caesars Sportsbook's Copa America betting site is the timeliness. It displays the latest promos, trending quick picks, and popular markets as the first things you see when navigating the page.

When you click on an individual matchup, you'll see many betting lines, including alt lines, point spreads, props, and totals. To me, these are perfect for live betting and creating parlays.

Though I'm impressed with Caesars Sportsbook's Copa America offerings, I will say that finding the tournament's betting markets was much harder at Caesars than at other Copa America betting sites. You must dig further into the game details to find interesting and potentially profitable odds.

5. BetRivers Sportsbook

Like Caesars, BetRivers Sportsbook's Copa America menu is buried a bit. But it's certainly worth the effort.

Within each individual matchup, you'll find markets for player props (including shots, goals, assists, and fouls), parlays, totals (for corners, shots, fouls, and offsides penalties), and three-way moneylines and spreads.

You can place customized prop bets thanks to BetRivers' move-the-line slider, which I think really sets it apart from the prop markets on the other Copa America betting sites.

What is Copa America 2024?

Copa America is the confederation-wide tournament of South America’s COMNEBOL. It features every South American country without qualification and has two guest teams from other confederations.

Because of the guest teams, Copa America is unique among confederation tournaments like the UEFA Euros. None of the guest teams have ever won the tournament, but Mexico finished runners-up twice: 1993 and 2001. The United States has finished fourth twice in four appearances in the tournament.

The tournament is held at irregular intervals. It has been held in back-to-back years or sometimes every two, three, or four years.

2024 Copa America Groups

The tournament is formatted like the World Cup: Four groups of four teams play each other once. The top two teams in each group move onto the knockout stage.

The two best-performing third-place teams also move on based on points and goal differential.

  1. Group A: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Peru
  2. Group B: Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Jamaica
  3. Group C: Uruguay, United States, Panama, Bolivia
  4. Group D: Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Paraguay

2024 Copa America Schedule

This year, the United States is hosting the Copa America. Host cities include:

The group stage began on June 20 and continues until July 2.

The top teams will advance to the quarterfinals, which take place between July 4-6.

The last four teams face off in the July 9 and 10 semifinals. The Copa America finals will be July 11 in Miami, Florida.

2024 Copa America Betting Types

The most popular ways to bet on Copa America are individual games, the overall winner, to make the final, and the top goalscorer in the tournament. Deciding between these could be as easy as seeing which sportsbook promos are available.

Individual Games

Many bettors know what’s available to bet for individual games, but soccer betting generally offers three-way moneyline bets on over/under goals. Spread betting is less popular in soccer due to the lower number of goals scored in games.

Most online sportsbooks offer more than just those two markets. Other markets offered include first-half or second-half stats, which team will score first, and which player will score first.

You can even try to predict the exact score for excellent odds.

Tournament Winner

Argentina and Uruguay tied for the most tournament wins with 15. Argentina has made 29 finals, and Uruguay has made 21. Brazil has only won 9 tournaments and made 20 final appearances.

Beyond that is a very steep drop-off. Paraguay, Peru, and Chile have won two Copa America championships, and Colombia and Bolivia have won one. Uruguay and Argentina are almost always fairly safe bets for making deep runs.

Few invitees have ever had success in Copa America. Mexico was a regular tournament fixture for over two decades and became the only non-COMNEBOL team to see significant success.

Considering the host is always important. The host nation won all tournaments hosted by Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay.

Betting on teams in form during the tournament is massively important. Copa America’s group stage can be unpredictable. In 2016, Brazil and Uruguay were bounced out of the tournament in the group stage, foreshadowing unspectacular runs in the 2018 World Cup.

To Make the Final

Making the final is also a popular market for people to bet on, though this can be even more predictable than betting on the tournament winner. Only nine tournaments have had Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay make the semifinal.

Betting on one or more of the three regular South American powers to make the final is always a good bet.

Top Goalscorer

Betting on the top goalscorer in Copa America is always a popular market due to the number of players who could claim the crown. Odds are usually pretty good, too, as every player is over even odds due to the market's unpredictability.

Considering a player's recent form is always key, but consider the competition they’re playing against. Despite Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Edinson Cavani playing in the 2016 Copa America, Chile’s Eduardo Vargas won the Golden Boot with six goals.

How does that happen? Some players are better against South American competition than others. Messi, the most prolific goal scorer in Argentina's history, has never taken the Golden Boot in the Copa America tournament.
