Real Madrid vs Manchester City Picks

Part two of Real Madrid and Manchester City's Champions League play-off tie has a lot to live up to following a thrilling first encounter between the two European heavyweights.

The two teams reconvene at the Bernabeu in Madrid with Real holding a 3-2 lead in the tie after a dramatic late turn around in Manchester with Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham finding the back of the net in the closing moments to hand the European champions the advantage.

City led twice in the first leg, but were left kicking themselves after failing to see the game out. Pep Guardiola's men are +400 on some betting sites to qualify for the last 16 having left themselves in a hole heading to Spain.

But the Citizens bounced back in the best way possible last weekend, thrashing Newcastle 4-0 with January signing Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez playing a starring role.

Meanwhile, Real made it three LaLiga games without a win as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Osasuna. They played the last hour of that match with 10-men following a red card for Bellingham in the first half.

Barcelona took full advantage of Real dropping points to go ahead of them in the Spanish league, but Carlo Ancelotti's men will have to park domestic matters for now and focus on City.

This is the fourth season in a row these two clubs have met in the UCL knockout phase and the winner of the previous three ties has gone on to lift the European Cup. Could we see the future kings of Europe emerge from Wednesday's clash?

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Betting Picks: Run It Back With Bet On Goals

A week ago, we were on Real Madrid to win & both teams to score and in terms of this second meeting, the expectation is we will see plenty of goals again.

Goals looks like the best way to play this game with the result markets a little more treacherous.

Real Madrid are odds-on on all the betting apps, but don't appeal at the prices. They rode their luck a week ago, are struggling to win in LaLiga and injuries have left Ancelotti with few rotation options, except in attack.

It's tempting to get behind City, available at +247 on some Alberta betting sites. They played really well in long stretches in the first leg, were excellent at the weekend and are unbeaten on three of their last four visits to the Bernabeu.

But they've only won once away in the UCL all season and like Real, they have defensive injury concerns with Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji absent. Real could be missing Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Lucas Vazquez, Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal.

City could have done more to expose Real's undermanned defense last week, but with Erling Haaland having now opened his account against Los Blancos with a brace in the first leg and Marmoush having had the confidence boost of a first career hat-trick, there's a chance they do more damage here.

Haaland is expected to shake off the knee issue he picked up at the weekend and lead the line in Madrid.

The Citizens have scored two or more in six of the previous nine meetings with Real and Pinnacle offer -103 on them netting over 1.5 goals on Wednesday.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Prediction 1: Over 1.5 Man City goals (-103 Pinnacle)

Real Madrid vs Man City Picks: Volatile Vinicius May Go Off

Vinicius Jr may not have scored in the first leg, but he was in inspired form, spurred on by a banner unfurled by the City fans reminding him of missing out on the Ballon d'Or to City's Rodri.

The Real Madrid vs Man City stats show he registered an assist and three shots on goal, but what they overlook is that he got into some great positions, making a mess of a chance to score in the first half when tying up Ferland Mendy instead.

That performance continued a trend of the Brazilian getting into some excellent positions consistently; he's registered three or more attempts at goal in seven successive games.

He's likely to be matched up with Rico Lewis in the second leg and the City youngster has had a tough time this season, particularly when dealing with 1v1 situations.

Expect Vinicius to have plenty of success against Lewis and add to the tally of seven Champions League goals he's scored this season, six of which have come at the Bernabeu.

City have conceded 57 goals already this season and while Kylian Mbappe carries the biggest threat, it would be foolish to sleep on Vinicius when looking at soccer betting sites.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Prediction 2: Vinicius Jr to score anytime (+140 William Hill)
