Iowa State Cyclones finished 4th in the Big 12 Conference this year with a 7-5 record. That was in contrast to the 2020 regular season where they finished 9-3 and 8-1, reaching the Big 12 Championship Game in the process. They also took down the Fiesta Bowl at the beginning of 2021.
Certainly, Iowa are better playing on home soil than away. Their recent record speaks for itself: a win in Iowa vs TCU, with home wins in November against Texas (30-7), Oklahoma State (24-21) and Kansas (59-7). The Camping World Stadium, therefore, will be unusual ground for the Cyclones.
For star Iowa State players, look no further than Brock Purdy. The Senior quarterback was offensive MVP in the Fiesta Bowl when Iowa dispatched Oregon Ducks 34-17. This season he made nearly 3,000 passing yards and scored 18 passing touchdowns. Look out too for Breece Hall who racked up 20 rushing touchdowns and over 1,400 rushing yards. Betting on Clemson Tigers at the Cheez-It Bowl
It will be an interesting matchup between Campbell and Tigers head coach William “Dabo” Swinney. Swinney has been in charge since 2008 and led the Tigers to two championships in the last five years.
Swinney will be missing Jackson Carman, the offensive tackle who moved to NFL side the Bengals in the summer. However, Jordan McFadden has slotted in to the role successfully, and that’s been borne out in some of the Tigers’ end-of-year results.
