Brook vs Khan Tips:

Amir Khan and Kell Brook are two of the biggest names in British boxing and, even though they are past their best, the clash between the bitter rivals this Saturday is a huge event.

Along with a week stacked full of interviews, public work-outs and the weigh-in, the best betting sites are offering a full range of markets on the headline bout and the undercard at the Manchester Arena.

How Amir Khan And Kell Brook Got Here

The feud between the pair goes back to a sparring session early in the senior careers of both men when Amir was seen as the rising star of boxing in the UK and Kell was an unfancied fighter from the Ingle gym.

The fanfare behind Khan was proved to be well placed when he won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics aged 17, and he went straight into big fights as a professional.

The man from Bolton won his first world title in 2009 and he unified the division in 2011 after four successful defences of his belt.

At the same time, Brook was British champion fighting in the small halls, leisure centres or further down the card at the bigger events. Kell finally got his shot at a world title in 2014 and after edging out a points victory over quality competitor Shawn Porter, he defended his title three times on home soil.

Brook Is The Favourite Against Khan

Since Khan lost his super lightweight belts to Lamont Peterson in 2011, he sought out big fights in America rather than face his foe from across the South Pennines - much to the annoyance of Brook.

‘King Khan’ suffered defeat at the hands of middleweight champ Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2016 and he was KO’d by welterweight boss Terence Crawford in 2019, and, up to this point, he has never become champion again.

Furthermore, Khan has been inactive for over two-and-a-half years, and bet365, one of the best boxing betting sites make Brook - the naturally bigger man - a decent 8/13 favourite.

Khan v Brook Should Not Go The Distance

Both men are 35 and both have recent records littered with early finishes. Only one of Amir’s last five fights have gone all the way, while the other four are split between two stoppage losses and two early wins.

Just one of Kell’s last nine contests have made it to the final bell, and his record in those fights reads six wins and three defeats.

It is on the defensive side of the game where the pair have deteriorated and, while Khan’s chin has never seemed too robust, Brook’s resistance seemed diminished in his most recent bout - a fourth round stoppage loss to the undefeated Crawford.

The fight not to go the distance is available at 4/7 with bet365, and it’s a bet you should seriously consider.

Don’t Rule Out A Fast Start For Khan

Khan v Brook

Khan is known for his blistering hand speed, and he established a reputation for fast starts by dropping the likes of Argentine toughman Marcos Maidana in the first round of their contest.

Even recently, Khan dropped Billy Dib and Samuel Vargas in the opening rounds of those bouts and he finished off Phil Lo Greco in one round in 2018.

One of the less common boxing markets available this Saturday allows naming a boxer to be knocked down and go on to win.

At bet365 you can get an appealing 7/2 for Kell Brook to be knocked down and to recover to score a victory.

Brook Can Have The Last Word

Brook’s power has resulted in nine KO’s in his last 11 wins, while four out of Khan’s five career losses have been by stoppage.

So, it’s no surprise online betting sites are unanimous in attaching the shortest price in the method of victory market to Brook by KO/TKO.

To get some longer odds it is better to look at the round group betting where bet365 are offering a solid 11/2 that Kell wins in Rounds 4-6.

The Undercard

The main support act in Manchester is the super welterweight world title fight between Natasha Jonas and Chris Namus.

Liverpool’s 2012 Olympian Jonas is a big favourite to win her maiden championship on Saturday, but she is widely priced at 7/2 by the best bookmakers to take the belt by KO.

Also appearing on the undercard is the bout between super middleweights Charlie Schofield and Germaine Brown for the English title. In the method of victory market, take Brown by KO/TKO and that can be found at 11/4 with bet365.
