While Paul Townend is the odds-on favourite on betting sites to be top jockey at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, we should also expect Jack Kennedy to have a successful time over the four days.

Kennedy is the principal rider for trainer Gordon Elliott and he has some lip-smacking rides for the meeting, with the Irishman already notching 10 victories at the Cheltenham meeting.

He was on board Minella Indo in 2021 when winning the Gold Cup and he’s trading as favourite in the “Top Jockey w/o Paul Townend” betting market.

Jack Kennedy Top Five Cheltenham Festival 2024 Chances

Firefox – Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – 1.30 Tuesday

The Cheltenham Festival gets under way with the Supreme, with Jack Kennedy on board Firefox and the horse might have his work cut out when it comes to beating the several Willie Mullins-trained horses in the field.

Ballyburn is the short-priced favourite to win the curtain-raiser, with Tullyhill and Mystical Power also among the leading contenders, although Firefox is a six-year-old who has notched victories at Down Royal and Fairyhouse this season.

He was a slightly disappointing fourth in a Novice Hurdle at Naas in January, although looks set to have strong each-way claims here.

Found A Fifty – Arkle Novices’ Chase – 2.10 Tuesday

Found A Fifty has finished first or second in all four outings this season and looks a solid each-way selection on horse racing betting sites when it comes to the second race of the Festival.

Kennedy has been on board the horse for every race during the current campaign, with the runner producing a fine performance when being narrowly touched off by Il Etait Temps in the Irish Arkle Novice Chase.

That came after a win in the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown on Boxing Day, with Marine Nationale regarded as the horse to beat in this year’s Arkle.

Teahupoo – Stayers’ Hurdle – 3.30 Thursday

Gordon Elliott has the first two in the betting for the Stayers’ Hurdle on Day Three of the meeting, with Teahupoo marginal favourite on betting apps to beat stablemate Irish Point at the time of writing.

It’s likely that Kennedy will be on board the seven-year-old in the hope that he can land a success following a win on his seasonal debut.

Beating Impaire Et Passe in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse was no mean feat and the horse was third in this race 12 months ago.

Brighterdaysahead – Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle – 4.50 Thursday

Jack Kennedy has declared Brighterdaysahead as his best chance of landing a winner at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival, with the jockey very sweet on a mare who hasn’t put a foot wrong during her career to date.

The horse has won all five encounters thus far, with Kennedy declaring that he wouldn’t swap his mare for anything else in the race and that includes the Willie Mullins-trained Jade De Grugy.

Gerri Colombe – Gold Cup – 3.30 Friday

Jack Kennedy knows what it takes to win a Cheltenham Gold Cup after triumphing on Minella Indo three years ago.

However, it could be a tall order to steer Gerri Colombe to success despite the horse having performed well at the Festival last year.

In the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, the horse finished a narrow second to The Real Whacker over three miles, with Gerri Colombe then winning at Aintree a month later.

The big question is whether the horse can find enough improvement to challenge Galopin Des Champs considering he finished 23 lengths behind the horse at Leopardstown over the festive season.
