Next Wolves Manager Odds: Edwards Hardens As Favourite To Fill Molineux Vacancy

Gary O'Neil's decision to withdraw his interest in a return to Wolves means Rob Edwards is the new favourite on betting sites to fill the vacancy left by Vitor Pereira's dismissal.
The Portuguese only signed a new three-year contract in September, but was sacked at the weekend following a 3-0 loss at Premier League relegation rivals Fulham.
Defeat at Craven Cottage left winless Wolves rooted to the foot of the table with just two points from their first 10 games.
Unless results improve, they are heading towards the Championship, although the club's board are reportedly not in a rush to make an appointment.
O'Neil was the hot favourite to replace Pereira and it was thought that most of the details of the contract had been agreed, but the former Bournemouth boss decided to pull out of the running.
It would have been a shock return for O'Neil, who was sacked by Wolves last December and replaced by Pereira, but the club must turn their attention elsewhere.
Middlesbrough boss Edwards is the new frontrunner to become the head coach at Molineux and he has pulled away from his nearest rival in the last couple of days.

We would like to thank Vitor and his staff for their tireless work during their time at Molineux.
Edwards Odds Shorten
Rob Edwards made 100 appearances for Wolves between 2004-08 and was interim head coach for a couple of games when Walter Zenga was sacked in 2016, but could he return to Molineux on a permanent basis?
The Wolves board are said to be long-time admirers of Edwards, whose star is in the ascendancy once again after making an excellent start as Middlesbrough manager in the Championship.
Edwards remarkably led Luton into the Premier League via the 2023/24 play-offs and although they ruffled a few feathers in the top flight, the Hatters made an immediate return to the Championship where they struggled.

The former Forest Green manager was eventually shown the door in January after overseeing just seven wins in 26 games only to be installed as Michael Carrick's replacement at the Riverside Stadium in June.
Boro are in third place in the Championship, just five points behind leaders Coventry, so it is no surprise to see that Edwards' odds have dropped from 3/1 to 2/1 with Ladbrokes following O'Neil's withdrawal.

Ten Hag Still In The Picture
Erik ten Hag was an outsider on Monday at 16/1 to become the next Wolves manager, but the Dutchman is now clearly in the frame on football betting sites.
Ten Hag won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup during a two-and-a-half-year spell with Manchester United which came to an end just over a year ago.
However, he returned to the dugout in May for a disastrously short-lived spell with Bayer Leverkusen which ended after just two Bundesliga games because of clashes with the board over transfers and a failure to connect with players.
Ten Hag is reportedly under consideration by the Wolves board, but Sky Sports reported that he is unlikely to accept the job if offered it and as a consequence, his odds have drifted from 7/2 to 9/2.
Keane Momentum Gathers Pace
Robbie Keane started his career with Wolves and went on to score 126 goals in the Premier League for many clubs, but is now making his name as a manager.
The former Republic of Ireland striker has spent all of his managerial career abroad where he has won league titles in Israel and Hungary with Maccabi Tel Aviv and his current club Ferencvaros.
The Hungarian champions are fourth in the table and have taken seven points from their first three games in the Europa League, so things are going well for Keane on the continent.
He was 12/1 for the Wolves job at the start of the week, but those odds have since been halved to 6/1 now that O'Neil is no longer regarded as a contender.
Ex-Celtic Boss Rodgers Drifts
Rodgers was the 2/1 favourite to land the Wolves job when Pereira was still at the club, but, since his dismissal, those odds drifted dramatically to 12/1, although he is now a best-priced 10/1 with William Hill and other bookmakers.
The Northern Irishman is out of a job after an acrimonious departure from Celtic following a 3-1 defeat at leaders Hearts.
The former Liverpool boss has left Parkhead to join a Premier League club before, moving to Leicester in February 2019, but could he be heading back to England for a second time?
Rodgers may be prepared to wait for a more high-profile role rather than take on a relegation battle with Wolves, but as things stand he is not being considered as an option to replace Pereira.

Carrick In The Frame
Former Manchester United midfielder Carrick remains without a managerial job since being sacked by Middlesbrough during the summer and is 12/1 to join Wolves as their head coach.
Aside from a short-lived spell as the Red Devils' caretaker manager, Carrick has only been head coach at Boro where he spent two-and-a-half seasons.
He led the club from 21st to the play-offs in his debut season and the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup in the following campaign.
Elsewhere, Sporting head coach Rui Borges is also 12/1 with some betting apps.
Allardyce To The Rescue?
Sam Allardyce is a name associated with salvaging desperation situations, so it's no surprise to see that he has been linked with Wolves.
Allardyce may be 71, but age was not a factor in Celtic's decision to bring back 73-year-old Martin O'Neill when Rodgers quit, so perhaps there is life in the old dog yet.
The former Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham boss was last at Leeds, and is 16/1 for one last hurrah at Molineux.
Elsewhere, former Manchester United and Besiktas boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also 16/1, the same price as ex-Porto and AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao, now with Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad.
Despite pulling out of the race, O'Neil is 18/1 and Kevin Muscat, who recently turned down the chance to become Rangers manager, is 20/1.
