Here are the current favorites to make the College Football Playoffs:
To win the national championship, schools must first make the College Football Playoff (CFP), formerly the Bowl Championship Series (1998-2013). In 2024, the playoff will be expanded from 4 to 12 teams in an effort to mitigate the annual controversy surrounding the question of which teams should qualify.
Under the new rules, a 13-member committee ranks the top 25 teams weekly. At the conclusion of the season, the top five highest-ranking conference champions as well as the next seven highest-ranked teams automatically earn a playoff berth.
Regardless of record, the four highest-ranked conference champions earn the top four seeds in the playoff. These teams receive a first-round bye; the other eight teams compete in the first round, with higher seed hosting the lower seed as determined by the committee’s rankings.
Another popular college football futures bet is predicting the winner of the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the year’s most outstanding player. There are other season-long awards handed out in college football, but the Heisman is considered the most prestigious.

The Heisman Trophy is voted on by former winners, fans, and more than 800 sports writers. Each former winner gets one vote and fans can vote on the Heisman.com portal. However, the totality of the fan vote only counts for a single vote.
The media rank their top three players using a 3-2-1 point system, meaning three points goes to the top-ranked player and one point goes to the player the writer ranks third. After the votes are in, all the points are tabulated and the award goes to the player with the highest total.
