Quick Tips
- WWE Royal Rumble Men’s Winner - Roman Reigns at 4/9 with Paddy Power
- WWE Royal Rumble Women’s Winner - Shayna Baszler at 1/3 with William Hill
All roads to WrestleMania begin at the Royal Rumble as the stage for the biggest matches of the WWE’s equivalent to the Super Bowl begin to take shape. Of course, the draw of the show is the 30-men and women’s over-the-top-rope battle royals. Two start out in this match with new participants joining the fray after a certain time interval.
Traditionally, the winners of these respective wars of attrition have gone on to battle for the top titles in the company at ‘Mania. This year the Rumble, which first appeared in WWE’s rotation in 1988, will see champion Brock Lesnar actually entered at number one. A new level of unpredictability, therefore, has been added to the men’s side.
The women have a potential career milestone to attain of their own, knowing how long they’ve fought for the opportunity to compete in their own Rumble in the first place.
That and coming off the heels of seeing Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey headlining last year’s WrestleMania makes winning even more important. So who from Raw, SmackDown, NXT or maybe a surprise entrant will walk away solo in the ring when the dust settles?

Roman to Reigns Supreme
The announced field of Rumblers on the men’s side is certainly impressive. At the top of the list is the WWE champion Brock Lesnar himself. The “Beast Incarnate” is no stranger to the environment, winning in 2003 at number 29.
However, going the distance at number one or two is not unheard of with Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio overcoming the odds. Though I can see someone like Cain Velasquez playing spoiler here, leaving the door open for Roman Reigns.

Someone who has been out of the championship picture for some time now. The ongoing Baron Corbin rivalry looks to be on the end of things, leaving the door open for him to return to the main event scene. You can bet on Reigns as the last man standing at 4/9 with Paddy Power.
Baszler Backed to Win
Given what has already been released I think this might be Shayna Baszler’s Rumble to dominate. The seeds were planted for a showdown between Shayna Baszler and Becky Lynch going back to Survivor Series during their battle for brand supremacy along in a triple threat match.
The “Queen of Spades” submitted the SmackDown champ Bayley. That left some unfinished business for a future showdown between Baszler and Lynch, especially after the Raw title holder put the UFC alum through an announce table. A receipt has to come, right?
What better way to bring this back to the forefront with Baszler securing the opportunity. With it being around WrestleMania time, I wouldn’t rule out an appearance by Baszler’s fellow Four Horsewomen Ronda Rousey, who was last seen at ‘Mania last year. You can bet on Baszler at 1/3 with William Hill.
Men's Final Four Pick - Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre has been booked strong in the weeks leading up to the Rumble, even scoring a win on Raw over AJ Styles and Randy Orton. He has all the physical tools that WWE looks for in a main event caliber performer.
The company has a history of giving a favourite some momentum only to not have them win because it then becomes too “predictable.” It can happen in this case, which would be unfortunate because he is who I would want to win. McIntyre is still a strong pick for an impressive finish at 8/15.
Women's Final Four Pick - Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair should have a great showing in the Rumble no matter what given her standing in WWE. The record-breaking 10-time champ and queen of the ring could go far lasting a good amount of time before elimination.
Here is another instance where her success leading into the event makes it almost less of a chance to leave Houston with a main event ticket to WrestleMania. You can bet on Flair with a final four finish at 1/2.

How You Should Bet The Royal Rumble
The fun of the Royal Rumble is seeing things you least expect, which makes it a big challenge to look into the proverbial crystal ball for answers. I reiterate to not get confident in a choice just because you see them winning TV matches in the weeks before.
That could be a way of WWE putting red herons in your way and making you think they are their tips. Nothing is guaranteed, even on show day as Vince McMahon is known to change his mind at the drop of a hat.
Another aspect of the match to consider are surprise entrants are a mixed bag for winning. John Cena shocked the world returning from injury early to take the 2008 Rumble. Edge did the same thing in 2010.
However, you have others like Booker T., Diesel and even AJ Styles who make jaws drop with their appearance, yet get sent over the top rope to the floor. Due to the unique nature of this match, it might be better to explore the prop bets.
Picking a different final four winner from your match-winner is a good idea because it gives you two picks in one match AND because of the better value the pick offers (example: Reigns is favored to win the Rumble, which means the final four odds will be very high and expensive whereas Rollins’ odds to win the Rumble are very low. Meaning his final four odds provide good value and will be cheaper)
