Top PGA Championship 2024 Betting Tips

The PGA Championship is the second golf major of the calendar year, with this being the only one which is exclusively reserved for professional golfers. Having previously taken place in mid-August, the date has changed so that this tournament is now played in May, on the weekend before Memorial Day in the United States.

The venue changes each year and some of the recent PGA Championship courses have included Bethpage Black, TPC Harding Park and Kiawah Island, with the courses selected annually usually representing a stern challenge.

This is a tournament where Americans have a strong recent record, with every winner from 2016-2022 representing the United States.

The PGA Championship follows hot on the heels of The Masters - and if you availed of free bets and other offers for the year's first major, you'll be glad to know there are plenty of promotions available for the PGA Championship as well.

Here are five key PGA Championship tips to consider when placing your bets.

PGA Championship Free Bets

The PGA Championship is one of the biggest golf tournaments in the calendar, so the best golf betting sites pull out all the stops with free bets for this event. We recommend signing up to multiple online golf bookmakers to make the most of different free bet offers.

The below golf betting sites are all fantastic options for claiming free bets on the PGA Championship. Just check out the terms and conditions before signing up, so that you know the steps needed to claim a bonus.

How to Claim Free Bets for The USPGA Championship

  1. Sign up for any of the recommended golf betting sites on this page by clicking 'visit site'.
  2. Once registered, head to the cashier or account section to deposit funds.
  3. Choose a preferred payment method.
  4. If a minimum deposit amount applies to unlock free bets, ensure you deposit the correct amount.
  5. You may need to head to a betting site's promotions page and click on the free bet offer you wish to avail of, while a bonus code is sometimes also required. In other instances, the free bets are automatically credited to your balance.
  6. In some cases, you may need to make a real-money bet before free bets are available, so check terms and conditions when placing a qualifying bet.
  7. Depending on the type of free bet offer, your free bets balance will either show before you have deposited, after you have deposited a minimum amount, or after you have placed a qualifying bet with a minimum stake at minimum odds.
  8. Head to the golf section of your chosen bookie, click the PGA Championship odds section and use your free bet offer on the market of your choice.

USPGA Championship Betting Offers

There are lots of USPGA Championship betting offers available and while many of these are new customer promotions, there are also existing customer offers worth checking out. The different types of offers you can find are explained below, along with the top betting apps and websites that run these special promotions.

Extra Each-Way Places

Over 150 players play in the year's second major every year, so It’s clearly quite a challenge to pinpoint the outright winner of the PGA Championship.

However, each way betting sites offer golf punters the chance to profit if their selections finish high up the leaderboard.

Different betting sites will offer their own each-way terms, with places paid out ranging from four right up to 11/12 with some sites. 888sport, Coral and BetVictor are among the online bookmakers that stretch the number of places the furthest.

Price Boosts

There are essentially two different kinds of price boosts. The first of these is a new customer price boost where there is the chance for new sign-ups to back a golfer at inflated odds.

The second involves enhanced odds for existing customers with selected golfers in the PGA Championship field. This can often include some of the favourites, and it can be great for existing customers to squeeze extra value from bookmakers such as William Hill, LeoVegas Sport or bet365.

Money-Back Specials

We’re always looking for the chance to get money back when betting on the PGA Championship, in case our bets come up short.

You can often find money-back golf specials with William Hill, especially if you put a number of players in a three-ball or two-ball acca for the PGA Championship. Thanks to Hills' Acca Freedom offer, you can get money back if one player lets you down.

Betiton and Unibet are also reliable for money-back specials on the golf.

Popular US PGA Championship Betting Markets

The bookmakers will create a huge range of PGA Championship betting markets and it can sometimes pay to look beyond the obvious, so be sure to check out the best new betting sites to see what betting options they have to offer. Here are 10 recommended markets worth checking out:

PGA Championship History

The PGA Championship is over 100 years old, having been established in 1916. It has been a stroke play tournament since 1958 and we have seen a number of big-priced winners over the past few years. In 2021, Phil Mickelson caused a stir when winning this major at huge odds of 250/1, having been completely unfancied before the competition.

All the golfers in the field are competing for the Wanamaker Trophy, named after businessman and golfer Rodman Wanamaker. No golfer has won the PGA Championship more than five times, with Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen both having five wins to their name, while Nicklaus has also finished runner-up on four occasions.

Mickelson became the oldest player to ever win the PGA Championship at the age of 50 in 2021, while the youngest champion was Gene Sarazen in 1922, at the age of 20. The biggest winning margin of the stroke play era came in 2012, when Rory McIlroy won by eight strokes, while Jason Day’s -20 in 2015 was the best score in relation to par.
