Which Game Show Will Be Revived Next? Blind Date Hot Favourite For A Comeback

A slew of classic British game shows have recently been given the reboot treatment on our screens.

From the successful return of Gladiators - which has since been recommissioned for a new series and a celebrity spin-off - to the rebooted Deal or No Deal, which returned last November with Stephen Mulhern at the helm, there have been some successful game show comebacks in recent months - and TV producers haven't finished delving into the archives just yet.

And UK betting sites will have markets on which show makes a comeback.

Earlier this month, it was reported by The Sun newspaper that cult game show Hole In The Wall could be heading for a reboot.

The first series aired in 2008, fronted by iconic late TV presenter Dale Winton, before Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke took over for 2009's second series.

Sadly, the bizarre programme, in which celebrities were tasked with contorting their bodies to fit through several cutout shapes in a polystyrene wall, to avoid being pushed into a swimming pool, all while wearing skintight, silver suits, was shelved after that.

TV presenter Vanessa Feltz, This Morning host Alison Hammond, and model Caprice were among stars who took part, and news of the programme's potential return has led to speculation on betting sites about which other game shows might make a comeback.

Blind Date Return?

Blind Date is the 4/6 favourite on specials betting sites to make a return next.

The iconic dating show has been off our screens for five years, but true love never dies, so surely it's time for a Blind Date revival?

The late, great Paul O'Grady presented four series from 2017 to 2019 after replacing his late pal, legendary TV presenter and singer Miss Cilla Black, who fronted the original 18-series run.

Following Paul's passing, a new presenter would be needed, but the likes of Holly Willoughby or Claudia Winkleman would no doubt be in the conversation.

Blind Date even featured early TV appearances from some well-known faces, including Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, and TV presenter Jenni Falconer, who both went on as contestants looking for love.

Another iconic game show which could be due a comeback is The Generation Game.

Initially fronted by Sir Bruce Forsyth in 1971, presenting duo Mel and Sue actually brought it back in 2018, but it was panned by the critics.

It is 2/1 that The Generation Game sees the light of day again soon, and 4/1 for a revival of Blockbusters, which is best known for contestants asking host Bob Holness: "Can I have a 'P' please, Bob?" Old, but gold.

They Think It's All Over? It Might Not Be

A Question Of Sport recently had a revamp with Paddy McGuinness taking over from Sue Barker, but whatever happened to They Think It's All Over?

Last seen in 2006, the comedy panel game was like a cheekier and more risqué version of A Question Of Sport. They thought it was all over then, but could it make a comeback?

Bosses have left it even later than Geoff Hurst's World Cup hat-trick goal - which led to Kenneth Wolstenholme's iconic "they think it's all over … it is now" commentary, which inspired the show's title - to revive it in time for Euro 2024, but producers should get cracking on a reboot in time for the 2026 World Cup.

According to betting apps, it is 3/1 to be the next game show to make a comeback, while Robot Wars - which was revived with Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon at the helm for three series from 2016 to 2017 - is just 5/1 for a return.

The Crystal Maze is another classic that just feels like it should always be popping out new series.

Comedian Richard Ayoade hosted a three-season revival from 2017 to 2020, and there is now a live experience of the 90s hit show - in London and Manchester - which must mean there is still an appetite for the programme. Let the fans return!

Ready, Steady Comeback

Other classic game shows that would no doubt be welcomed back onto our screens include sporting programmes Big Break and Bullseye, which are both 6/1 on new betting sites

Snooker show Big Break was a former Saturday night staple, and it's quite incredible to think it hasn't been on our screens since 2002.

Perhaps snooker needs a big, breakout star, like darts supremo Luke Littler, to give the audience an appetite for something like this again.

Speaking of darts, with 17-year-old Littler giving the sport some positive headlines in recent months, a Bullseye return might not be far away?

A standalone version hasn't been on since 2006, but it has featured as part of Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow, which saw the comedian hosting mini revivals of the likes of The Price is Right, Take Your Pick, Strike It Lucky, and Name That Tune.

Ready Steady Cook has also been revived recently, with Rylan Clark fronting a reboot for two series from 2020 to 2021, but it was shelved afterwards.

It is 7/1 to make another return, while Distraction - which originally aired for two series on Channel 4 from 2003 to 2004, hosted by Jimmy Carr, is 8/1

Nearly 20 years have passed since the last episode in June 2004, and it has been 14 years since 9/1 shot Scrapheap Challenge - in which teams were tasked with building a working machine that could perform a specific task, using scrapyard materials - was on our screens.

It's been missing from the box since 2010, and scrapyards all over the UK are no doubt worse off because of it. Hopefully the scrap is soon put out of its misery and this junk-filled gem cane make a return.

Other shows that could be in the conversation may include Shooting Stars (10/1) - but they wouldn't be able to get away with some of what was said back in the day - and 11/1 chance Pets Win Prizes, which last aired way back in 1996.

GamesMaster doesn't feature in the market after a reboot aired in 2021 and it was revealed in 2023 there would be another series.

While nothing has materialised so far, TV producers have plenty to choose from.
