As the name suggests, American odds are commonly used in the U.S., giving you a triple-digit or higher number with either a minus or plus sign.
The whole American odds (or moneyline odds) system is based on betting $100.
The numbers next to a minus sign (-) tell you how much you must bet to win $100. The plus symbol (+) beside the numbers tells you how much you can win by betting $100.
The negative sign indicates the favourite, while the plus sign points to the underdog.
AFC East Teams
Buffalo Bills
The Bills are known for their loyal fanbase, “Bills Mafia,” through cycles of dominance and heartbreak. In the early 1990s, they became the only team to reach four consecutive Super Bowls, though they lost all four. Hall of Famers QB Jim Kelly, RB Thurman Thomas, and DE Bruce Smith defined this era of Buffalo football. In recent years, 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen has made the Bills one of the AFC’s top teams.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins entered the league as an AFL expansion team in 1966. The franchise holds bragging rights over every other team in the NFL: the only team to ever record a “perfect season,” going 17-0 in 1972 under coach Don Shula. They went to three consecutive Super Bowls from 1972 to 1974, winning back-to-back in ‘73 and ‘74.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are one of the most successful franchises in NFL history. Under head coach Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady, they won six Super Bowls over 17 years, including consecutive titles in 2003 and 2004. They made the playoffs for 11 straight seasons, and Brady won NFL MVP three times (2007, 2010, 2017).
New York Jets
The Jets are responsible for one of the greatest upsets in NFL history. They won Super Bowl III against the heavily favored Baltimore Colts after QB Joe Namath guaranteed a victory. Since then, the Jets have been defined by struggles and injuries. The Jets’ Super Bowl win in 1969 is still their only appearance in the title game.
