New England Patriots vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

⭐ Packers to win (-120) at FanDuel

The Green Bay Packers started the Jordan Love era with a win, topping the Cincinnati Bengals 36-19 on Friday. Love was efficient, completing 7 of 10 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in two drives of action. Green Bay's other drive with Love stalled when Love missed a wide-open wide receiver for a third-down conversion, but otherwise, he look comfortable as the team's undisputed franchise quarterback.

The second-to-last preseason game traditionally sees the starters see more game action before resting for the final warm-up contest before the regular season starts. In years past when there were four preseason games, this meant the third preseason game saw the starters go longer. Now, it's the second game with the preseason schedule limited to three contests. That means we could see Love get extended action, which gives the Packers an edge in this preseason matchup against the New England Patriots.

Another reason we like the Packers to win (-120) at FanDuel was the debut of rookie QB Sean Clifford. In relief of Love, Clifford completed 20 of 26 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. He did throw two interceptions, including a pick-six as he was hit while throwing, but he remained in control of the offense against the Bengals and made a wide range of throws to highlight his potential. If the Packers get this version of Clifford again, they'll have an advantage against the Patriots.

New England's offense struggled all throughout the 20-9 loss to the Houston Texans on Thursday. The Patriots had just 180 yards and converted on 3 of 12 third downs. With Love expected to play more and Clifford coming off a quality performance, we like the Packers in this spot.

Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

⭐ Browns to win (-105) at BetMGM

Deshaun Watson made his preseason debut for the Cleveland Browns in the 17-15 loss to the Washington Commanders and played fine, completing all three of his passes for 12 yards and running for 20 yards on three carries on his only drive of the night. Cleveland drove it to the Washington 1-yard line before getting stuffed.

As positive as that may have went for Cleveland, the reason we like the Browns to win (-105) at BetMGM over the Philadelphia Eagles is what the teams other QBs have shown this preseason. Both Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kellen Mond have excelled in two preseason games this season. Thompson-Robinson completed 9 of 10 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, while Mond was 7 of 12 for 66 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Against the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame game, Thompson-Robinson and Mond played well there, also. Mond was 13 for 19 for 92 yards and a touchdown, while Thompson-Robinson completed 8 of 11 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown and also added 36 rushing yards.

Backup QB play is paramount when looking to pick a side in a preseason game, and we like what the backup Cleveland QBs have shown up to this point.

New York Jets vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

⭐ Jets to win (-110) at FanDuel

The most impressive outcome from the weekend was the New York Jets' 27-0 win over the Carolina Panthers. Both QBs, Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle were productive in their outings, with Wilson completing 14 of 20 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown, and Boyle converted on 9 of 10 passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

Wilson seems to be comfortable in the new system from Jets first-year offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett. Going against second-string defenses, Wilson has made a plethora of high-caliber plays you would expect of an NFL starting QB. Boyle's transition with the Jets should come as no surprise since he was in Hackett's system when both were members of the Green Bay Packers organization.

We're going to back the Jets to win (-110) at FanDuel over the Tampa Bay Buccanneers based on how efficient Wilson and Boyle have looked this preseason.

New York's defense also impressed in the win over Carolina. The Jets held the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young to just 21 yards passing and sacked him once for a nine-yard loss. New York also picked off Matt Corral and sacked him four times, while surrendering just 199 yards of offense, including only 52 rushing yards.

We expect New York's momentum to continue into Week 2 of the NFL preseason.
