Throughout the season, we will give you betting advice for a National League and American League game each day and throw in a few quick pitches for player prop bets, Over-Under bets or moneyline bets on other games.

American League Best Bet

New York Yankees -125 at Houston Astros +115

6:10 p.m. ET

The Houston Astros won four of six games against the New York Yankees and Mets.

They swept the two-game set in Queens at Citi Field over the Mets and before that split a four-game series in the Bronx and had the lead in all four games.

The Astros used three starters to combine for a no-hitter in the third game of the series, marking the first time the Yankees failed to get a hit in a game in more than 19 seasons.

The Yankees went hitless over 16 consecutive innings in 56 at-bats.

The Astros are proving to be the better team and are playing at home tonight in a make-up game against the Yankees before a three-game series against the Angels this weekend.

Here are the supporting trends and angles for a bet on the Astros tonight:

  • The Astros are 26-11 when facing an AL foe that is allowing 4.9 or fewer runs per game over the past two seasons.
  • The Astros are 12-2 when facing a team that is outscoring their opponents by an average of 0.5 runs per game this season.
  • The Astros are 38-19 when facing an AL starting pitcher that has an ERA of 3.70 or lower over the last two seasons.

Bet the Houston Astros -115 on the moneyline.

National League Best Bet

San Diego Padres +120 at LA Dodgers -130

10:10 p.m. ET

The Dodgers begin an 11-game home stand, starting with a four-game series against the San Diego Padres, who trail the Dodgers by 1.5 games in the standings.

The Padres hand the ball to their ace Joe Musgrove, who has never earned a decision over the Dodgers.

He is 0-4 in six career starts against the Dodgers with a hefty 5.12 ERA and a 1.358 WHIP.

Mitch White is starting for the Dodgers and he has steadily shown improvement in each of his five starts posting a 3.98 ERA and a 1.131 WHIP.

The Trends and Angles support the Dodgers

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is 113-47 following two consecutive games in which his team did not commit an error.

The Padres are 14-29 when facing a bullpen with an ERA of 3.45 or lower over the last two seasons.

The Dodgers are 46-12 at home with a slugging percentage below .400 over the last two seasons.

I will bet the Dodgers at -130 as offered at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Quick Pitches

These are some other bets to consider on today’s schedule.

  1. Bet the Phillies’ Nick Castellanos will have 2+ hits at +220 at FanDuel.
  2. Bet the Astros’ Luis Garcia Under 2.5 earned runs at -135 at Caesars.
  3. Bet the Pirates’ Oneil Cruz to have 2+ hits at +270 at BetMGM.
