Coco Gauff vs. Laura Siegemund Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

Coco Gauff may be on the best run of her young career right now. She's coming off a WTA 1000 title in Cincinnati where she beat world No. 1 Iga Swiatek for the first time after previously going 0-7 against Swiatek. She also defeated No. 8 Maria Sakkari in the finals of the WTA Washington tournament, giving Gauff two titles in her last three events.

We're going to back Gauff to cover -6.5 games (-102) at FanDuel against Laura Siegemund in the first round of the U.S. Open. It's a large spread but the last time Siegemund played a top-tier player, she was blown out. In the finals of the WTA Warsaw tournament, Siegemund lost to Swiatek in the finals 0-6, 1-6. She's simply not at the level of a Gauff or Swiatek type of player.

These two have met three years ago, and Siegemund won in three sets, but they were vastly different players then. Siegemund is three years older now and past her best years at 35, while Gauff continues to get better at the age of 19.

Caroline Wozniacki vs. Tatiana Prozorova Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

Prozorova needed a third-set tiebreak to qualify for her grand slam debut and it will be interesting to see how she handles a crowd on a big stage that will likely back Wozniacki.

Wozniacki had competitive moments in the loss to No. 9 Marketa Vondrousova, showing she can win points and content against a top 10 player. Look for her experience to be a factor against Prozorova.

Jelena Ostapenko vs. Jasmine Paolini Predictions, Odds, Betting Tips

Jelena Ostapenko has one of the biggest ranges for a top player at a grand slam. She could legitimately win the U.S. Open with her power and overwhelm her opponents, or she could lose in straight sets in the first round with numerous unforced errors and inconsistency.

For her first-round matchup with Jasmine Paolini, we're going to take Ostapenko to win (-235) at FanDuel. Her recent hard-court season has been indicative of the player she is. Ostapenko defeated No. 25 Karolina Pliskova but also lost to Jennifer Brady, who is making her return to the tour for the first time since 2021. Ostapenko also had a hard-fought defeat to No. 4 Elena Rybakina.

Paolini has shown solid form as of late, making it to the quarterfinals at Cincinnati before losing to Gauff but is just 12-11 on hard courts in 2023. With this being the first meeting between the two, we expect Ostapenko to overwhelm Paolini with power from the baseline that she has not encountered before. There will probably be numerous miscues from Ostapenko, which is why we are not suggesting taking her to win in straight sets, but she should have enough to advance.
