The NL MVP odds aren’t quite as unbalanced as the AL MVP odds, but they’re getting there.

Below, we’ll continue our bi-weekly review of the awards around the MLB using DraftKings and BetMGM.

Let’s dig into the MLB betting odds for NL MVP as July begins.

Favorites for the 2023 NL Most Valuable Player

Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves

6/20/23 Hitting Stats: .325/.403/.561, 15 HRs, 45 RBIs, 44 Ks, 94 Hits, 30 SB

7/4/23 Hitting Stats: .335/.413/.599, 21 HRs, 54 RBIs, 48 Ks, 113 Hits, 40 SB

6/20/23 Odds: BetMGM Sportsbook (-135)

7/4/23 Odds: BetMGM Sportsbook (-350)

Ronald Acuna Jr. is starting to run away with the NL MVP award. So much so that BetMGM and DraftKings have the same odds for every other player.

Acuna is -350 at both top sportsbooks, and you can select an option to bet on “Any Other Player,” and they all have the same odds.

Shohei Ohtani has -1400 odds in the American League. Still, there’s likely not an “Any Other Player” option because the following closest odds are +3000, meaning plenty of value would be lost.

As for Acuna, I mean, what can you say? He’s got it all. He’s increased his home run total into the 20s and leads the league in stolen bases with 40. He also raised his average by 10 points and his slugging percentage to just under .599.

He’s easily the most dominant player in the National League.

Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks

6/20/23 Hitting Stats: .304/.386/.596, 16 HRs, 39 RBIs, 55 Ks, 76 Hits, 19 SB

7/4/23 Hitting Stats: .289/.365/.557, 17 HRs, 44 RBIs, 64 Ks, 83 Hits, 24 SB

6/20/23 Odds: BetMGM Sportsbook (+450)

7/4/23 Odds: BetMGM Sportsbook (+240)

Considering the odds are “Any Other Player,” we’ll stick with those we previewed last week, including Corbin Carroll and Freddie Freeman.

We checked out Mookie Betts as well, but for the sake of brevity, we’re cutting the list to three.

Compared to Acuna Jr., Carroll has been ice cold. He has just one home run over the last two weeks and five RBIs. A second-year player, Carroll, in his first full season, has been excellent for the Diamondbacks and is a promising star on the rise for years to come. Still, he’s likely completely out of the race by now.

Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers

6/20/23 Hitting Stats: .324/.404/.554, 13 HRs, 46 RBIs, 55 Ks, 93 Hits, 9 SB

7/4/23 Hitting Stats: .314/.395/.530, 14 HRs, 54 RBIs, 66 Ks, 105 Hits, 1 SB

6/20/23 Odds: DraftKings Sportsbook (+700)

7/4/23 Odds: DraftKings Sportsbook (+245)

Like Carroll, Freeman has been pretty cold over the last two weeks. He’s dropped his average 10 points, has just one home run, and nine RBIs.

It seems like Freeman’s power-hitting days are behind him, which is OK, but when you’re going up against a player like Acuna, you must have all five tools.

Freeman has the better average compared to Carroll, but the home run power with Caroll is a bit better, and the speed, as shown by the stolen bases.
