We’ve crossed 60+ games into the MLB season, marking more than a third of the regular season is now complete.

While plenty of time is left, we’re starting to see the MLB Most Valuable Player odds take shape. There’s no better time to bet on MVP futures odds because they’ll only lose value as the season progresses.

Here, we’ll look at the MLB NL MVP odds, looking at the top three players and analyzing why they’re the favorite and what direction you should go in as far as betting on them goes.

Favorites for the 2023 NL Most Valuable Player

Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braces

Hitting Stats: .331/.407/.564, 12 HRs, 32 RBIs, 36 Ks, 78 Hits

Odds: BetMGM Sportsbook (+125)

Unlike the AL MVP odds, all of the 2023 MLB MVP odds in the National League have “+” value.

So, for Acuna Jr., if you bet $100 on him, you’d win $125.

Acuna Jr. leads the way at +125 because of his batting average, hits, stolen basses (26), and respectable home run numbers.

His home run numbers rank him 17th in the league, but his batting average, hits, and stolen base count all rank inside the top four.

Acuna Jr. is vital to the success of the Braves. They’re in first place in the NL East, and Acuna Jr. is their lead-off man. Besides Orlando Arcia (.303), he’s the only player on the team hitting over .300 and the only player with an on-base percentage over .400. When it comes to MLB betting value, Acuna Jr. has it.

Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers

Stats: .331/.402/.558, 10 HRs, 35 RBIs, 43 Ks, 80 Hits

Odds: DraftKings Sportsbook (+600)

When you look at the stats for Freeman, you’ll notice they’re pretty similar to Acuna. He has the same batting average and a couple more hits (he’s played in one game than him, to be fair).

Freeman also has more RBIs but fewer home runs.

At +600, Freeman has such a gap because he doesn’t have the same stolen base production (8), has fewer home runs (his power has been dipping over the last few years), and Freeman is part of a lineup with production all over the place, including the third place player on this list, Mookie Betts.

If Freeman can get this power stroke going and outpace Acuna Jr., he has a great chance of winning the award. Still, if Acuna Jr. continues to hit for power more often, maintain his batting average, and steal bases while leading off and increasing the lead in the division, he’ll be tough to take down.

That said, at +600, Freeman is more than worth a wager; the gap here isn’t necessarily +475 points of value.

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers

Stats: .257/.362/.532, 15 HRs, 36 RBIs, 45 Ks, 57 Hits

Odds: FanDuel Sportsbook (+2500)

The Dodgers are a rock-solid team, and Betts more than helps with that.

Like Acuna, Betts leads off, but he has a batting average that’s close to 100 points less than Freeman and Acuna.

While he has more home runs and RBIs, he strikes out more than Freeman and Acuna and has fewer stolen bases than both of them.

It would take a significant resurgence from Betts to ascend beyond his teammate and Acuna.
