The Houston Texans play their home games in Texas and compete in the AFC South alongside the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. The city of Houston had an NFL franchise until 1996, when the Houston Oilers upped sticks and moved east to become the Tennessee Titans. However, three years later plans were approved for the Texans to be established as a new franchise.
It wasn't until 2002 that the the Texans squad debuted. Amazingly, in its first official game against in-state rival Dallas Cowboys, Houston won 19-10 after a late safety sealed the victory.
Unfortunately, the rest of the season didn’t go well, and the Texans finished the year with a 4-12 record. Houston allowed quarterback and first overall pick David Carr to be sacked 76 times, a record that stands to this day (amazingly, Carr nearly broke that record three seasons later, as he was sacked 68 times).
The first years proved to be difficult for the Texans, and it wasn't until 2009 that the team finally had a winning record. In 2011, Houston won its first division title and had with its first playoff win, against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Texans have yet to advance to a conference championship round, let alone a Super Bowl.

The Houston Texans are one of only four teams in the NFL to have not yet played a Super Bowl game (along with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Jacksonville Jaguars). Between 2011 and 2019, they managed to win the AFC South six times, but the Lombardi Trophy remains out of reach. While every team has high hopes at the start of each season, the Super Bowl is not perhaps on the Texans' radar at present.
