Updated: Apr 2024 Super Bowl Odds

Here are the latest NFL Super Bowl betting odds. Please note that these 2022 Super Bowl betting odds can change frequently and often differ from site to site. That's why you should come to our US gambling sites to compare the top Super Bowl betting sites in your state.

Super Bowl Betting Trends

Favorites typically win the Super Bowl. In fact, the favorite has won straight-up in 35 of the 55 Super Bowls. Underdogs do cover and win, such as the Buccaneers in Super Bowl 2021, but it's clearly the exception.

The under tends to be a strong bet in the Super Bowl as most bettors prefer to take the over and root for points. Three straight Super Bowls have now gone under the point total; something to keep in mind when looking at Super Bowl 56 odds. Super Bowls tend to be a bit slower and sloppier than most novice bettors expect.

Another (fun) Super Bowl trend includes Tom Brady: He, Eli Manning and Jim Plunkett are the only quarterbacks in NFL history to win multiple Super Bowls as an underdog.

If you are interested in prop bets, one of the most popular is what the first score of the game will be. Here is the breakdown of the first score in every Super Bowl:

Considering that touchdowns and field goals have occurred at the same rate for being the first score in the Super Bowl, a smart tip would be to bet on whichever outcome has better odds at your favorite sportsbook.

Betting on Super Bowl Odds

The Super Bowl is the one event with the most bets placed on it every year. Why is it so popular? Well, people like to bet on events they can watch, and few events have the significance and audience as the Super Bowl. Additionally, sportsbooks, like Caesars Sportsbook, offer a wide range of bets that appeal to inexperienced and experienced bettors alike. Here is everything you need to know about betting on the game and how to find the best NFL Super Bowl odds.

Understanding Super Bowl Odds

Much like every other NFL football game (or college game), Super Bowl odds will feature a moneyline, point spread and point total. We will go over all three, in case you are unfamiliar with football betting. But here is an example of what the Super Bowl odds look like, using the odds from Super Bowl 55 featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

POINT SPREAD: On the point spread, the Chiefs are favored as indicated by the (-) sign. In this case, they are 3.5-point favorites and would need to win by four points to cover the spread. The Buccaneers are the underdogs as indicated by the (+) sign. They are 3.5-point underdogs, meaning they would need to lose by three or fewer points (or win outright) to cover the spread. In both cases, a bettor would need to wager $110 to win $100. The Super Bowl odds for the point spread tend to be very close from site to site but shop around for the best odds before placing a point spread bet as a half-point can be the difference between a push and a win.

MONEYLINE: The margin of victory in the moneyline does not matter, as bettors wager on who they believe will ultimately win the game. As in the point spread, the Chiefs are favored. A player would need to wager $175 to win a profit of $100 when betting on the Chiefs. Likewise, the Buccaneers are the underdogs, and a bettor would win $140 on a $100 bet. While a tie results in a "LOSS" for the bettor, that is irrelevant during the playoffs or the Super Bowl because there are no ties.

POINT TOTAL: A point total bet (or over/under bet) is as simple as betting on how many total points will be scored in a game. In this example, the total is set at 57.5 total points. Bettors would choose either the OVER or UNDER 57.5 points. Any points scored in overtime also count toward the point total. The odds on this line can vary from site to site, but they are based on a standard $100 bet like the moneyline and point spread bets listed above.

NFL Futures Betting: Who Will Win the Super Bowl?

While the Super Bowl teams won't be set for a while, bettors can still look at the Super Bowl odds as they place bets on who they think will win the championship. Nearly all operators will offer the latest Super Bowl odds on all 32 teams and their chances of winning the championship via a futures bet.

Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Kansas City Chiefs have the best Super Bowl 56 odds at +500. The Buccaneers, Bills, Packers and Rams aren't far behind, but these odds can change due to player movement, injuries, preseason performances, regular-season wins and losses, and more.

Bettors can also wager on who they believe will make the Super Bowl, rather than the champion. Some operators even allow players to bet on the Super Bowl MVP before the two teams even make it to the game. Be sure to look at your favorite online sportsbooks for the latest Super Bowl odds and future lines.

What Are Super Bowl Props?

If you want a fun way to bet on the Super Bowl but aren't interested in the actual outcome of the game, consider making a prop bet. A prop bet is a bet that doesn't have to do with the moneyline, point spread or total. But instead, it's a bet on a singular outcome for a player or team.

For example, a common prop bet is to wager on the number of yards a player will total in a game. Bettors can pick either the over or the under with a typical payout of -110. However, the lines and odds do drastically vary from site to site. Here are some examples of common Super Bowl props and how to find the best odds for each.

Super Bowl Team Prop Odds

Team props during the Super Bowl can range from the number of total points scored to the number of first downs or the total amount of yards. Because this is the only game of the week and so many new and experienced bettors will be wagering on the game, expect more team prop bets than usual at most online sportsbooks. Here is a list of very common prop bets for teams during the Super Bowl:

There are seemingly endless amounts of these types of bets available during the Super Bowls, and the odds and lines can be significantly different from one another. Be sure to check out your favorite legal and legitimate betting sites for the best Super Bowl odds for team prop bets. To help you get started, we recommend BetMGM Sportsbook or FanDuel Sportsbook for competitive Super Bowl odds!

Super Bowl Player Prop Odds

As with just about every other bet, most online sportsbooks will have a long list of player props available. These allow bettors to wager on their favorite players and outcomes that don't have a direct impact on the outcome of the game. An example would be the total amount of passing yards for a quarterback such as Tom Brady. Here is what that may look like at your favorite sportsbook:

Total Passing Yards: 278.5 for Tom Brady

In this example, the payout is the same on both the over and the under at -110. But the Super Bowl odds and lines for props will change greatly depending on the site. Player props will often have the most variance from site to site of any bet, which can provide a lot of value to bettors who shop around. Be sure to check out several sites for the best and latest odds and lines.

Special Super Bowl Props

Because it's the Super Bowl, there will always be a few extra props that aren't offered in any other game. These can range from the length of the National Anthem that is sung before the game to the color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach. The "special" props have become very popular over the last few years. Online sportsbooks will offer hundreds of these types of bets.

Super Bowl Wager Types

In addition to the traditional moneyline, point spread and point total bets, there are literally hundreds of ways to bet on the big game. Here are some other ways to bet on the big game:

Point Spread Bets: A wager on who can cover the spread set by sportsbooks. A favorite must win by more than the number set by the sportsbook; the underdog needs to lose by less than that amount or win outright.

Moneyline Bets: A simple wager on who will win the game outright with no points given or taken away from either side.

Totals Bets: A bet on the combined number of points scored in the game, including overtime.

In-Game/Live Betting: Wagering on the point spread, moneyline, total or props as the game is happening. For in-play betting, sportsbooks update odds in real-time based on the action on the field.

Super Bowl Player/Team Prop Bets: Wagering on a team- or player-specific events, such as total passing yards by a quarterback. Prop bets are independent from the outcome of a game.

Novelty Prop Bets: Wagering on the events such as the National Anthem, halftime show, coin toss, celebrities mentioned during the broadcast, etc.

Super Bowl Odds Speculations

With the Super Bowl odds posted and the season upon us, there are several teams that believe they have what it takes to reach and win the big game. Here are some of the top contenders in the NFL this season and their biggest question entering the season.

Will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win Another Super Bowl?

Despite winning the 2021 Super Bowl, the Buccaneers are not the favorites to win the championship to open the season. That honor belongs to the Chiefs, who opened as +500 favorites. The Buccaneers are the only team in NFL history to bring back all 22 starters after winning the Super Bowl. Considering the NFC looks weaker this year than the AFC, why can't the Bucs win another Super Bowl in Tom Brady's second year with the team? They currently seem like a value at +600.

Can the Kansas City Chiefs Bounce Back and Win Again?

The Chiefs were one Dee Ford offsides penalty (2018) away from making the Super Bowl in three straight seasons. With Patrick Mahomes under center, it's going to be tough for anyone to knock off the Chiefs in the AFC. They've improved their offensive line this offseason, adding three former Pro Bowlers in Orlando Brown, Joe Thuney and Kyle Long. They also drafted All-American center Creed Humphrey, and the defense looks to be deeper and better than ever. Don't be surprised if the Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl once again this season under coach Andy Reid.

Can the Buffalo Bills Finally Get Their First Super Bowl Win?

The Bills have reached four Super Bowls in their franchise's history but have yet to win one. They made it to the AFC Championship Game last season, but can they get past the Chiefs in the AFC? The Bills are +1000 to win Super Bowl 56 and have one of the best rosters in the NFL. They have the third-best Super Bowl odds heading into the season - not a surprise given their success over the last few seasons. Buffalo could be a legitimate contender to make the Super Bowl again this season.

Is this the Last Dance for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers?

Aaron Rodgers is back in Green Bay for what seems like one more season. Can he win Super Bowl 56 before continuing his career elsewhere? The Packers were the No. 1 seed in the NFC last season and have one of the best rosters in the league. Expect Green Bay to be right in the thick of things again this season with Rodgers under center.

Can Matthew Stafford Lead The Rams Back To The Super Bowl?

The Rams made a big trade in the offseason, acquiring Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford from the Lions. Is Stafford the right guy to get the Rams back into the playoffs? Their Super Bowl odds sit at +1400, third-best in the NFC. Don't be surprised if their odds for the Super Bowl improve over the next few months as Stafford gets more comfortable in Sean McVay's offense.
