Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul Betting Tips: Can Iron Mike Overcome Problem Child?

The moment of truth is close at hand as former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Texas in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The best betting sites have plenty of odds on one of the most talked about fights of the year which is being streamed free to Netflix subscribers.

Tyson, 58, last fought professionally almost 20 years ago and is the 2/1 underdog to cause an upset over the eight two-minute rounds.

Paul is more than half ‘Iron Mike’s age at 27 and, having won 10 of his 11 pro fights, is the 4/6 favourite with William Hill, which has a draw priced at 10/1.

The Panel have looked at the latest Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul odds and come up with a couple of betting tips for the big night.

Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul Betting Tips: Don’t Underestimate ‘Iron Mike’

Tyson last fought professionally in 2005 when he failed to answer the bell in the seventh round of his fight with Kevin McBride.

Speaking afterwards, Tyson said: “I do not have the guts to be in this sport anymore. I don’t want to disrespect the sport that I love. I’m sorry for the fans who paid for this.”

However, he came out of retirement four years ago at the empty Staples Center in Los Angeles where he fought Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition which ended in a draw in a bout which was generally well received by ex-pros.

Jones, a former four-weight world champion, offered insight into Tyson’s physical shape in 2020 when he said: “The dude is so strong, man. When he hits you, his head, his punches, his body shots, everything hurts. I'm cool with the draw."

Tyson has had health issues, though, and pulled out of the original contest in July with a stomach ulcer.

The breathing of the man once dubbed ‘the baddest man on the planet’ also appeared to be laboured in an interview with the BBC, but Tyson insists his health is “fine”.

He certainly looked in a good shape during the weigh-in when he slapped Paul in the face, although the former Disney Channel actor claimed he “didn’t even feel it”.

Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul Predictions: Six Of The Best

Paul has fought mainly MMA fighters in the past and beaten them all, but his sole defeat came in Saudi Arabia just over 18 months ago when he lost a split decision to Tommy Fury.

The Ohio native, dubbed 'Problem Child' for his rebellious nature as a youngster, has ambitions to be a world champion one day and this fight - which has been sanctioned as a pro bout - is meant to help his cause.

However, the fact the pair are fighting over shorter rounds and will be using 14oz gloves instead of the standard 10oz to lessen the impact of punches, suggests it may even go the distance.

Tyson is said to be getting around $20m for this fight, double what he got for the duel with Jones, and although a big pay day is his main motivation for Saturday’s battle, he has been putting himself through the wringer in training to improve his chances of victory.

The first of The Panel’s Tyson Vs Paul betting tips is for Over 5.5 rounds at 10/11 with betting apps.

The gloves these two will be wearing are generally used for sparring and that could lead to a longer bout than many expected.

So long as Tyson doesn’t wear himself out fighting the only way he knows, he could see beyond the sixth round.

Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul Odds: Youth To Prevail

Tyson’s sad decline should not be forgotten though and it would seem unlikely that he will be able to live with Paul’s fitness, even if power is regarded as the last thing to go for a boxer.

Health issues past and present are bound to take their toll and Paul should have too much for the former great just from a fitness point of view.

Whether Paul has the technique to end the fight early remains to be seen, but for the last of The Panel’s Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul tips, the younger man to win by decision gets the nod at 3/1 with boxing betting sites.
