Rhys Williams' Racing Tips: 4 Selections For Saturday

Horse racing expert Rhys Williams is sharing his best selections for today's racing.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
Rhys' tips have returned 207.93 points from 146 points staked, meaning his profit and loss record stands at +61.93pts overall - thanks to a 33/1 and a pair of 28/1 winning selections this week.
Here are Rhys' tips for today, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.

14:20 Ascot: The Wizard Of Eye - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 28/1
The Wizard Of Eye hasn’t been seen too often in the past couple of years, but he won this race in 2024 and I think the market is underestimating his chance of doing so again.
He won that race on stable debut for Charlie Fellowes off the same mark that he races off today and followed it up with an excellent run when stepped up in Grade 1 company at Royal Ascot.
He only had one more run for Fellowes before joining his current trainer Tom Clover.
The Wizard Of Eye once again ran well on stable debut, when finishing third at Newcastle and it’s easy to excuse the Kempton run next time when he was caught wide throughout.
He goes well fresh so that he’s coming into this on the back of a 187-day absence in a positive for his chance, and I think the return to a straight seven furlongs is ideal for him too.
There is a slight concern that for a big field handicap this might not be too strongly run, which wouldn’t help his style of racing, but he’s drawn well in stall 26 and I think he can run better than his price suggests.
Any 20/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 14:20 Ascot: The Wizard Of Eye - 0.5pts Each-Way
14:40 Lingfield: La Brodeuse - 0.5pt Win @ 20/1
La Brodeuse is making her stable and British debut in this Group 3 contest, and I think the market is overlooking her potential to improve on what she’s showed in France for Andre Fabre.
She ran a very good race when finishing fourth at Longchamp three starts ago, when terribly positioned at the back of the field given the pace and did well to finish as close to the winner as she did.
La Brodeuse followed that with another encouraging run at Saint Cloud, where she travelled strongly into the lead only to be caught late on and finish third.
I think they were trying to make her into a miler in France, but the way she raced suggested this drop in trip could bring improvement from her and the quicker ground could help her cause too.
It may be that she will need the run a little after a break but I suspect there’s more to come from La Brodeuse at some point and hopefully that will be today.
Any 12/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 14:40 Lingfield: La Brodeuse - 0.5pt Win
15:10 Naas: Usuario Amigo - 0.5pt Win @ 33/1
Usuario Amigo’s rating has gradually been on the slide since joining Richard O’Brien, and I think he has the greater potential to take advantage of that than his price suggests in this sprint handicap.
He showed a good level of ability on the flat when trained by James Owen before being picked up for 27,000gns to join O’Brien.
He didn’t show too much on his first two starts but it was a far more encouraging effort at Limerick two starts ago, when I think he would have gone close to winning, but for his path being blocked and momentum stopped around a furlong out.
It’s easy to forgive his seasonal debut at the Curragh due to the ground, and hopefully that run will have sharpened him up and put him spot on for today.
It may be that he will want a bit further to show his best, but I think the market has overlooked the promise of the Limerick run and any 16/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 3: 15:10 Naas: Usuario Amigo - 0.5pt Win
18:07 Warwick: Sky Grove - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 14/1
Sky Grove makes his hurdling debut in this maiden hurdle and I think he can run better than his price suggests.
He ran to a good level when chasing home the now 138-rated hurdler Cosmic Connection on his second start in Irish points and finished well clear of the rest that day.
Sky Grove joined Laura Horsfall after and made his rules debut in a bumper at Hereford.
He travelled strongly for a long way that day and eased into contention on the approach to the home straight, but he got into a bumping match and hung badly left and could make no impression on the winner.
The switch to a left-handed track for his hurdling debut should help his cause and I’m not sure this is a particularly strong maiden hurdle despite the yards involved.
It may turn out that today will be another step along on his education and that will be the focus on this run, but I think he has the ability to be competitive and any double-figure prices appeal.
Rhys' Selection 4: 18:07 Warwick: Sky Grove - 0.5pts Each-Way
