15:21 Hamilton: Tee Aitch Aye - 0.5pt Win @ 33/1
Tee Aitch Aye has run terribly on both starts this year and it might be that he’s just on a sharp decline, but I think the softening ground has a better chance of bringing about a revival than the market suggests.
He looked uncomfortable on the ground when finishing tailed off over course and distance last time, but he showed that he can handle the undulations of this track when winning off a 1lb higher mark last season.
That run was followed up by a good run in defeat at Ayr in very testing conditions, and he looked to have the potential to continue improving on that evidence.
It is concerning just how badly he’s run this year, and although the ground should be softer than last time, it might be that it won’t be soft enough for Tee Aitch Aye to show his best.
However, I think the market has overreacted a little and any 20/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 15:21 Hamilton: Tee Aitch Aye - 0.5pt Win
18:10 Lingfield: Antiquarian - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 80/1
This contest looks to be lacking depth in quality and it may be that Sunshine Star will be too classy for her rivals - if bouncing back from a disappointing run, but I think the chance of one of her rivals at a big price is being overlooked.
Antiquarian finished tailed off on her debut over six furlongs last year, but she showed more on her seasonal debut at Ascot over this trip.
Her inexperience still showed at times, but after coming under pressure turning into the home straight, she kept going well enough to be beaten just over seven lengths.
That was a much stronger race than this and the fifth - Bintknight - won a maiden next time.
I expect that Antiquarian would ideally want a more galloping track, and maybe it will turn out that the steady pace that day allowed her to run above her true ability.
However, I think there was enough promise in that run to suggest she shouldn’t be such a big price in a race of lesser quality today.
Any 33/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 18:10 Lingfield: Antiquarian - 0.5pt Win
20:10 Lingfield: Last Dandelion - 0.5pt Win @ 12/1
Ron’s Angel may be too good for her rivals - if building on her debut at Bath, but I think one of her rivals could be more of a danger than the market suggests.
Last Dandelion finished behind Forest Berry on debut, but she was green that day and she duly took a significant step forward at Newmarket last time.
She raced handier on that occasion and was responding to some gentle pressure, when unable to get a clear run with one and a half furlongs to go.
That didn’t help her cause given the undulations and she wasn’t given a hard time while finishing fifth.
I think she has the potential to take another step forward under these conditions, and this track may be more suitable for her.
Any double-figure prices appeal.
Rhys' Selection 3: 20:10 Lingfield: Last Dandelion - 0.5pt Win
