This is particularly true in the Premier League and especially for its biggest teams. Research from VisitBritain in 2021 revealed that there were 1.5 million visits to the UK in 2019 which included attending a football match.
Old Trafford led the way from Anfield, with the grounds of Manchester United and Liverpool both estimated to have attracted over 200,000 visitors from overseas that year.

That’s a serious level of demand for accommodation and hospitality in the local area for those teams, while the three biggest clubs in London were all attended by north of 100,000 tourists too.
But whether you’re planning to visit Arsenal or Chelsea or Luton or Burnley doesn’t matter, you always need to know the best place to stay in the local area.
Tips For Booking Hotels Near Premier League Stadiums
We’re here to help, having researched the hotels nearest to all 20 clubs who will compete in the 2023-24 Premier League.
We have limited the data to places within a one mile walk of the stadium, according to Google Maps, with an eye on being as close to the heart of the action as possible.
We also want to find you the most favourable accommodation so have taken reviews from three sources – most commonly Google, Booking.com and Trip Advisor – to locate the best venues.
There is a wide discrepancy in terms of the number of available options depending on which club you are looking to visit.
For instance, there is only one hotel within a mile of Brighton’s Amex Stadium, as it’s located outside the town and near a university campus. But Tottenham also only having only one option despite being in built up north London does seem unusual.
The teams with the most local hotels are Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle. We limited our search to a maximum of 15 and all four clubs hit the upper limit. The geographical proximity of the Merseyside pair means that nine venues qualified for both Anfield and Goodison Park.
However, if we limit our radius to half a mile for the sake of argument, Liverpool and Newcastle still have 11 qualifying hotels each while Everton and Chelsea drop to six and just one respectively.
This sort of thing appears to make a difference too. The 54 hotels within 0.5 miles of Premier League grounds have an average Google rating of 4.16, but it drops to 4.03 for those further out while still within our one-mile boundary.
The samples are small, but aside from a significant drop for the nine hotels situated 0.2 miles from stadiums, the ratings decrease at every interval between 0.1 and 0.8 miles.
Of course, fans visiting their team of choice aren’t interested in division-wide average ratings but the options available to them near the home of their beloved club.
The following table details how many hotels each side has within a mile of their ground and the average ratings received by establishments with reviews from three sources, while we’ve also totted up how many hotels had an average score of at least four.
Purely on ratings, Fulham has the best options, followed by Manchester City, Brentford and Bournemouth. Newcastle and Liverpool are next and have the widest variety of local choice too.
We’ve also looked up room prices for two nights (Friday and Saturday) across the first match week of the season, which is the weekend of August 12.
Bear in mind that the research was conducted during the first week of June, before the fixtures for 2023-24 were released.
Demand and therefore prices will likely have changed depending on which 10 teams were drawn to play at home that weekend, so please treat the costs listed here as a guideline only.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Hotel Near a Premier League Stadium
The popularity of Premier League football is shown by the fact that some hotels had no prices available as they were already booked up two months in advance.
There are 156 places to stay in this study but only 99 where we could obtain a price from two sources for the opening weekend.
The average price for a two-night stay from August 11 to 13 this year was quoted as £216. Naturally there is variance from club-to-club, though, and it is no shock that four of the top five are in London, with three of that quartet in the more expensive west side of the city.

Each has a rating score derived from three sources, so should be reliable on that front, but the prices may be from only one outlet or even for different dates (as indicated with an asterisk). Again, treat the costs as an indicative guideline only.
Supporters of Brighton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham undoubtedly get a raw deal. There are very few hotels within reasonable walking distance of their stadiums and those that are local are not favourably reviewed.
But then other options are available. Companies such as Airbnb enable you to rent a private property on a short-term basis and may prove more appropriate for a visit to watch a Premier League team play this season.
