Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 3 Selections For Friday

Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss record for the year stands at -25.37 points from 32 points staked.
Here are Rhys' tips for Friday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
14:14 Exeter: Maximum Benefit - 0.5pt Win @ 50/1
Three horses dominate the market in the opening novices’ hurdle at Exeter but I think one of the outsiders could be more of a danger than the market suggests on his hurdling debut.
Maximum Benefit was well beaten when last seen at Warwick but he scoped dirty that day so that run can be easily forgiven.
Prior to that, he shaped well in a strong bumper at Chepstow when he looked to be a little outpaced halfway up the home straight before rallying well and staying on to finish sixth.
The winner of that race won again under a penalty next time and the second and fourth both won next time out.
He has been reported as a difficult horse to keep right and it may be that the ground will be too testing for him today having been taken out of a race on heavy ground at Uttoxeter earlier in the season.
However, the ability that Maximum Benefit showed at Chepstow suggests he could be more competitive than the market suggests if jumping competently on hurdling debut and any 25/1 or bigger appeals.

14:52 Ffos Las: Soldier For Glory - 0.5pt Win @ 12/1
Harbour Island and Rathkenny come into this novices’ hurdle on the back of victories and they’ve shown a good level of ability in this sphere but it’s a rules debutant who appeals at the prices.
Soldier For Glory failed to complete on his only start in the Irish pointing field, but he showed promise that day.
Having been held up, he travelled strongly into contention going down the back straight for the final time and looked to have jumped his way to the front at three out, but he seemed to collide with Tour Guide and his rider was unseated.

While three out, in some way out on the point course at Punchestown, the way that Soldier For Glory was travelling suggests he would at least have been competitive in the finish and, if that had been the case, I expect he would be shorter for this race than is currently the case.
There is a chance that he may need the run after nearly a year off the track and his lack of experience may tell against the front pair, but I think he’s got some ability and any double-figure prices appeal.

16:45 Exeter: Noble Blue - 1pt Win @ 2/1
Noble Blue has been racking up a sequence of victories in the pointing field and he looks to have a very strong chance of making it five wins in a row back under rules this afternoon.
He showed some ability when trained in Ireland by Paul Nolan, including on very testing ground, before being bought following a disappointing start to the 2024/25 season.
Noble Blue won his first two starts for Josh Newman before being beaten on patchy ground at Charlton Horethorne.
That has turned out to be his only defeat in British points as he’s added four victories since, the latest of which coming at Charing where he travelled very strongly into the lead before holding off the late rally of Call Me Early.
The ability that he’s shown in points over the past couple of seasons suggests that a mark of 100 now underestimates Noble Blue’s ability and this looks a suitable test for his return to racing under rules.
There is always a slight concern that a horse won’t transfer their point form back under rules and he might ideally want soft rather than heavy ground but he faces a weak field today and any 7/4 or bigger appeals.
