Rhys Williams' Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Friday

Horse racing expert Rhys Williams is sharing his best selections for today's racing.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
Rhys' tips have returned 242.62 points from 163.50 points staked, meaning his profit and loss record stands at +79.12pts overall - thanks to a sensational recent spell that includes a 33/1 and a trio of 28/1 winning selections recently.

Haydock 16:40: Lavender Gold 0.5pts Each-Way @ 10/1
Bnaider may be too classy for these on his way to being an excellent juvenile hurdler if switching codes, but I think one of his rivals today is more of a danger than the market suggests.
Lavender Gold is making his seasonal debut, and his first start after a wind op and being gelded, having shown promise as a two-year-old.
He was clearly green on debut at York when running on to finish seventh and it was a similar story next time at Windsor when he ended up at the back of the field after being slowly away.
He made up plenty of ground late on, despite racing closest to the middle of the track, to finish third behind Explosion who is now rated 89.
I thought the circumstances of his subsequent two starts weren't ideal for Lavender Gold.
I'm not sure making the running on bad ground at Ffos Las ended up suiting him and he always looked a sitting duck for Astrazar who showed more speed than him in those conditions.
Last time at Wolverhampton, he was poorly placed and could only make up late ground in what turned into a sprint finish.
I'm expecting this race to be stronger run and I think the return to soft ground is a positive for Lavender Gold's chance too.
There is the concern that he could be too keen on his return from a break but I think a rating of 71 could underplay his ability if circumstances drop right for him and at 8/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 16:40 Haydock: Lavender Gold - 0.5pts Each-Way
Downpatrick 19:00: Jampot Lane 0.5pt Win @ 80/1
Jampot Lane is making her chasing debut in this beginners contest and I think she can run better than her huge price suggests.
She is very lightly raced for an eight-year-old, but showed a bit of promise in her last two starts in stronger company than she faces tonight.
At Fairyhouse, she was outpaced after three out but kept plugging away to be beaten just over 20 lengths in a race where the front trio are now rated 122 or higher.
She was once again ridden patiently at Galway last time and wasn't disgraced behind a winner who has only contested Grade 1s or 2s since, while the runner-up is now rated 137 and the fourth 130.
It may be that Jampot Lane would ideally want to go left-handed and she does have to prove that she can jump fences, but I'm hoping the immediate switch to this sphere after just three runs over hurdles means that she has schooled well.
I'm also hoping that as she is so lightly raced as an eight-year-old, the focus will be on today rather than using this as an education with handicaps in mind further down the line.
It could be that theory will be wrong or that she won't have the class for this contest but she looks overpriced given the drop in class of opposition that she's facing and at 25/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 19:00 Downpatrick: Jampot Lane - 0.5pt Win
