Rhys Williams' Racing Tips: 3 Selections For Thursday

Horse racing expert Rhys Williams is sharing his best selections for today's racing.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
Thanks to his 50/1 winner at the Cheltenham Festival (Apolon De Charnie) and 5/1 winners on Wednesday and Thursday, Rhys' tips have returned 107.93 points from 83 points staked, meaning his profit and loss record stands at 24.93pts overall.
Here are Rhys' tips for Thursday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.

16:15 Kelso: Buy Some Time - 0.5pt Win @ 20/1
Buy Some Time returns from a long break in this handicap hurdle and I think the market is overlooking his chance of making a successful return to action.
He won a valuable handicap at the Punchestown Festival last season and while he failed to add to that victory in three subsequent starts back in Britain, I thought he continued to show promise.
I thought the track and the way the race was run didn’t suit him at Hexham two starts ago and although he’s won over three miles in the past, I’m not sure that trip was ideal for him at Perth last time when he faded quickly on the run-in and finished last of five.
The return to a shorter trip and a race that is likely to be well run looks ideal for Buy Some Time given his usual racing style and the wind op and reapplication of a tongue tie could see him finish the race off stronger than has been the case of late.
It may be that he will need the run after a break or that a return to a flat track will be more suitable but I think the market is underestimating him and any 14/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 16:15 Kelso - Buy Some Time - 0.5pt Win
17:15 Chepstow: Bath Taverness - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 200/1
It may be that Order Of Time will be too good for his rivals on rules and stable debut given the quality of his sole point run but I think one of his rivals at a huge price could run better than the market is expecting.
Bath Taverness looked very green at various stages on her debut at Hereford and didn’t seem to be handling the right-handed bends.
Approaching the final bend, she was detached from the main pack and didn’t seem to be going anywhere but she suddenly got the message late on and finished strongly into tenth, clocking one of the quickest final furlongs in the race.
It could be that she will still be too green to show her full ability today or that this company will be a bit too strong for her, but I think Bath Taverness has more ability than her price suggests and any 50/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 17:15 Chepstow - Bath Taverness - 0.5pt Each-Way

17:30 Clonmel: Wildhorserider - 0.5pt Win @ 80/1
Wildhorserider has shown nothing in two starts under rules but I wouldn’t be as surprised as the market if he suddenly came to life in this maiden hurdle.
He started his career in the pointing field and ran a respectable race to finish a distant second to Starzand on debut while finishing clear of the rest.
Next time at Castlelands, he raced handily for a long way and was still in a share of the lead jumping two out before not quite seeing out the trip and finishing fourth.
Wildhorserider has been beaten a long way in both starts in maiden hurdles since joining Terence O’Brien and it might be that he just isn’t the horse he was in those points.
But if they go back to riding him handily I think he could be capable of better than he’s shown so far and this isn’t a deep maiden hurdle.
Any 33/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 3: 17:30 Clonmel - Wildhorserider - 0.5pt Win
