Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 3 Selections For New Year's Eve

Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss stands at -1.25 points from 56.5 points staked, with returns of 55.25 points - thanks to his 100/1 shot finishing third on Monday.
Here are Rhys' tips for New Year's Eve, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
14:52 Warwick: Blackijo Dagrostis - 0.5pt Win @ 11/1
Blackijo Dagrostis is a 17-race maiden in points and under rules, but I think he has a better chance of breaking his duck at the 18th attempt than the market suggests.
He often showed some promise in defeat over hurdles and fences earlier in the year but looked a weak finisher and was given a wind op after finishing fourth behind Boom Boom in June.
He didn’t look like he wanted any further than two miles in those races.
So it was no surprise that the near 2m4f trip proved too far for him on his return after 111 days off at Stratford.
Given the obvious excuses for his poor run at Hereford last time, I think it’s generous of the handicapper to drop Blackijo Dagrostis 4lb for that run and he’s now back on a left-handed track and over a suitable trip.
The application of cheekpieces for the first time may also help his cause and this doesn’t look a particularly strong race so while it may be that he’s just a weak finisher even after the wind op, I think the market is underestimating his chance a little.

15:30 Lingfield: Woodhay Whisper - 0.5pt Each-Way @ 12/1
Although Faustus has been taken out of this six-furlong handicap, it still looks likely to be run at a strong pace and that is likely to help the cause of Woodhay Whisper.
She was narrowly beaten by Profit Street two starts ago when racing a bit too keenly in the early stages and on her latest start over the same course and distance, she was dropped right out the back of the field from a wide draw and couldn’t get involved in the closing stages.
She is far more favourably drawn today in stall one and the likely strong pace should give her a better chance of settling in the first half of the race, as will the reapplication of the hood.
There is a chance that she has just reached her level for now but she’s not been with this yard for too long and I’m hoping they can get a bit more out of her in likely favourable circumstances.
