Rhys Williams' Daily Horse Racing Tips: 2 Selections For Saturday

The Panel are delighted to have Rhys Williams as part of our team of racing tipsters.
Rhys has been a racing analyst for over 10 years, working for At The Races and most recently as a tipster for Betfair where his tipping column had a 31% ROI over four and a half years.
He often focuses away from the front end of the market, finding angles that aren't evident to most.
His profit and loss stands at -7.65 points from 39 points staked, with returns of 31.35 points.
Here is Rhys' two tips for Saturday, using the most up-to-date odds from the best horse racing betting sites.
12:10 Cheltenham: Wolf Rayet - 0.5pts Each-Way @ 40/1
For a Cheltenham juvenile hurdle this doesn’t look a particularly strong race and the outsider of the field appeals at the prices.
Wolf Rayet made his stable and hurdling debut at Chepstow and shaped better than the margin beaten suggests.
He was initially a bit keen under restraint but soon settled and jumped fairly well in the first half of the race.
He travelled strongly in behind the leader going to two out and looked like he might be a danger to him.
However, after making a slight mistake, his effort flattened out while keeping on well enough to finish second.

While he has to improve quite a bit on the bare form to have a chance of challenging One Horse Town, I’m hoping the application of a tongue tie for the first time can see Wolf Rayet finish off the race stronger and take a step forward from that.
The slightly softer ground is a bit of a worry for him but in a race that might not have too much depth in real quality I think the market is overlooking his chance and any 20/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 1: 12:10 Cheltenham - Wolf Rayet - 0.5pts Each-Way
13:30 Doncaster: Not A Light - 0.5pt Win @ 25/1
Not A Light is also the outsider of the field in this staying handicap hurdle which is surprising given the circumstances.
It was only two runs ago that he was sent off favourite for a handicap hurdle at Catterick off a 4lb higher mark and I’m not sure the track suited him at all that day so that performance can be forgiven to some extent.
They sent him over fences at Windsor on his seasonal debut but he didn’t take to that test and it’s generous of the handicapper to drop his hurdles mark in line with his chase one given his jumping let him down so badly that day.
Earlier in his career, he looked a likely future staying type so I’m hopeful that this test will be more suitable for him than the last two he’s faced.
It is a worry that he is so lightly raced for a horse of his age and although he showed that he still retained ability on his first start after 735 days off at Hexham around this time last year, it might be that he’s had problems since that mean he won’t be the same horse he once was.
However, I think the market has overreacted to two runs for which there are excuses and any 14/1 or bigger appeals.
Rhys' Selection 2: 13:30 Doncaster - Not A Light - 0.5pt Win
